Take that up with the Anthropologist at Northwestern University. He says things levelled off for Americans in the last 50 years.

The absolute truth of the matter is that the only thing being “artificially enhanced” is all these HW contenders failing drug tests.

I was right about the three inches, given the paramters of the question.

But it doesn't matter. Just try to absorb the information and try not to say "humans haven't grown in a 100 years" any more. Just try.

Even if the percentage of giants levels, the fact that population has grown so much means there are that much more of those specimens roaming the streets. Thus, the talent pool is deeper.

I shall try to remember to say humans haven’t grown anymore than two inches in 100 years.

And I’m definitely going to try and remember that Americans height stabilised over the last 50 years.

Most of it was actually because people got shorter with the industrial revolution.

People in the middle ages actually weren't much shorter.

Regarding the whole average height debate, I have never been a believer that the best talent will necessarily emerge in the deepest talent pools.

The best talent are by definition standouts, and they can literally crop up anywhere, and in any era for that matter.

The different between a deep talent pool and a shallow one, is sometimes just that the best of the era is less of a standout in the strong era.

That would be true of the overall population. It could also be true that less Americans are getting into boxing and that might effect that talent pool.

Then there is the matter of the failed drugs tests.

I also feel that a large talent pool tends to result from abnormally high uptake of the sport in a small number of countries, much more than a large global population, or even a large global uptake of the sport!

It might be the case that depression era America produced the largest global talent pool that the sport ever had!

Are Americans the only ones who can excel at boxing? Are they genetically predisposed to outperform other nationalities?

No, it is just a country that had an abnormally large uptake throughout the 20th century.

The UK was the global powerhouse of the 19th century, the USA was the global power house of the 20th century, and the 21st century is still up for grabs!

No but they produced most of the heavyweight champions over the last century. That’s all.

Marciano can’t compete with a 6’6 250lb athletic monster like a Joshua. Not fair to Marciano . Just too much size and talent

But give me Marciano in the ring vs Usyk, that’s a great fight
