These guys seem all but identical to me in terms of both fighting style and attributes. Who'd you think would take it and why?
Joyce has no defence,he is a sucker for a right hand, and Vitali had a good one.Joyce is also slow.Against that he has an excellent engine and decent power.Vitali by tko, similar to Joyce's last fight.
What's the issue? They're both tall, superbly chinned, ultra high workrate fighters that wear down their opponents via attrition and high volume. Joyce is weirdly slow and Vitali has better defence but you don't think they're similar fighters? I was inspired to post this because a poster here said "There's not anyone Vitali beat that Joe Joyce couldn't", which I find interestin.
Vitali has a whole system of fighting based on body sway, his up jab and footwork. He is pinpoint accurate with his arm punches which while not being technically correct allow him to generate a very high workrate while retaining his ability to react instantly to incoming fire. His defence isn't just better it's almost unique in the ranks of the top heavies as he does things that you're not supposed to and gets away with them. His footwork is likewise excellent. Joyce just eats punches and plods forward trying to land big shots. The only real similarity is that they have both got size, a high workrate and excellent stamina.
I see no similarity between them. Joyce trundles forward making the pace. Vitali laid back in a lot of his fights ,looking to counter ,and he as an excellent judge of distance.
