I see boxrec have Joyce Chisora for May 5th!? If true bold move by Haye. Joyce is big and hard hitting, and at nearly 33 he maybe hasn't got years to build a padded out cv. Go for the prize now. Just underlines that Chisora is the gatekeeper of British hw boxing.

He lost quite emphatically in a European title fight. He’s the British gatekeeper.

There is an obvious next match up for Joyce that I haven't seen mentioned yet - David Haye!

I think Chisora is around Euro level but I still think there is around 6 better British heavyweights at the moment.

I agree plus Thomas will be near fighting fit and would be fresh for Bellew v Haye undercard

Yeah with his amateur career he is in danger of going background fighting opponents such as Big Nasty lol (I can only imagine how bad the 8 opponents are that he beat).

Palmer was so hard to look at, had no shape to his body at all. I understand there's no max weight limit at HW but come on this guy makes most women jealous of his chest

Joyce is about 40. Get him a European title shot and see where he's at.

That’s not a bad shout. If you can’t get chisora why not get Kabayel who beat him in the European title fight.

Assuming Chisora comes off in May, Jozic and Palmer being stay busy bouts, he'll then be ready for EBU level. That's in the space of 4 bouts in less than 8 months of turning pro.

Let's say he gets past Chisora (not a given), has another stay busy fight around September time, that puts him in line for the next step up at the end of this year. That's the point at which it would be feasible to talk about fighting real contenders or fellow prospects.

There's a chance Joyce could beat a lot of names at that level right now but I think he needs steady activity to work off some of his stiffness. It's a part of his make-up but it's in his best interest to mitigate it as much as is possible.

It's not financially realistic to have each subsequent bout be a step up from the last but even the bouts like this last one will at least serve to put him through the motions of getting ready, dealing with the press and performing under the lights. I think that's important because if he's going to slip up between now and an eventual title shot, it'll be because someone caught him cold.

Get him a fight against a world level guy monlina would be a perfect fight and joyce should knock him out and he will not cost that much

Molina isn't a bad shout but the fact remains that opponents will want big money to fight Joyce- you have to remember that the rights fee for a Channel 5 show is just £50k which is around half of what Chisora may be offered. Factor in an undercard etc and it's a fair risk for a promoter.

Bit of a waste of time last night. Still not convinced with joyce tbh...hell do allright due to a lot of that division being made up of basically part time fighters. But anyone serious will most probably beat him. The good thing for Joyce is not many in the division take it seriously. Can't see the hype tho.

Suppose no wonder when their hyping anything about last night. Opponent was clearly not anywhere near any kind of serious level. Fine putting it on TV...but can't see channel 5 being taking seriously trying to hype that. I don't think even Eddie would have.

    Huey fury will beat Joyce.
