Hilariously, poor old Ron, enjoying no advantage in size or youth as Kentucky has demonstrated, also has a serious experience deficit to make up, to boot, then.

 

Looks a bit like a potential fight between Joe Louis and Elmer Ray in some ways!

 

Now this is the painful double standards that make you look so agenda driven and illogical.

Lee Savold was the RING #2 contender when Louis knocked him out. Yet you turning around and using a RING rating to build up Lyle's unimpressive edging of Bugner.

We know 100+ fight careers were the norm in the 50s, and Bivins had enough in the tank to work his way back into the top 10 with good wins and showings.

Easiest route? Please, sell that hyperbole to someone who doesn't know their stuff.

It would be just as wrong to say Louis took on a Murder Row of killers.

What Louis did do was take on three genuine contenders and many experienced journeyman that were guaranteed to make him work for the win.

So what if Louis desperately needed cash, will you shut up about that. What do you think Lyle was fighting for? What do you think any fighter that steps into the ropes at risk of mind and health do it for? Louis was no different than any other fighter. The way you keep emphasizing Louis needed money comes off mocking in tone.

Louis proved in 51, he was still dominate over middling competition, and I don't think that was going to change if he continued to fight on. Lyle in 77 and 78 was fighting even with and losing to middling and poor competition.

Louis all the way. Lyle doesn't really have any advantages here, he's not significantly bigger, Louis is quicker, likely still packs a bigger punch, and is a supreme technician.

I don't get why you have to fall into this straw man defense. Nobody is arguing Louis was prime in 51, so just cut that nonsense unless you actually see someone saying it. We are comparing Louis of 51 to Lyle of 76. Not Louis of 51 to Louis of 38.

 

I think Lyle would follow Louis' lead as he was prone to doing, he would jab with Louis and fall behind on points, ultimately get knocked out in the late rounds.
