As far as I'm aware, none of Joe's title defenses listed below are on film. Can anyone help confirm or (hopefully) deny this for me? Harry Thomas Red Burman Gus Dorazio Abe Simon I Tony Musto Lou Nova Very strange that any of these wouldn't have been filmed and preserved. If anyone knows that I am incorrect about any of these "missing" fights, and/or if anyone knows any stories behind any of these, please do share. Thanks in advance!
I haven't seen any of the above either so i will wait for someone else to confirm. What about the Tommy Farr one? Does the entirety of it exist or are some rounds missing? I can't remember.
The Nova fight was certainly filmed, but reportedly so dull that the distributors didn't think it was worth showing, which may explain why it hasn't survived.
I certainly have never seen it in its entirety. But there is a damn good restoration of this one from Smooth Legends. Awesome work on that channel. This content is protected
Interesting. Bizarre that they would have such technical difficulties. Especially when we have prsitinely clean footage from earlier years.
Dull in the sense of tedious rather than the film quality. Nova boxed very cautiously and Louis just patiently stalked him, so not much happened until the stoppage.
There are a few minutes of the first Louis - Simon fight filmed from ringside. The quality is not too good and there are sometimes heads in the way of the action. The same film photographer got a few seconds of Holman Williams fight also. The clips were shown on this site maybe 10-12 years ago.
Sad thing with the Nova fight is by many accounts Joe’s knockout of Nova is often credited as the hardest punch he ever through. Would love to see it
