Ask Mendoza, but my point was that McVey is rather obsessed with misquoting his comments at every oppurtunity.

My own observation is that Maueriello didn't have the greatest of resumes.

The irony in that comment. From noticing your lack of love for Calzaghe posts I suspect you are either a Jones **** or Hopkins ****. I'm going to go with the Jones ****, as watching your hero get destroying must have been a really emotional experience. Which one is it?

My point is you don't know WTF you are talking about and the post you made that I corrected emphatically shows it!
    Bottom line.
Mauriello was a very good puncher and his record proves it !
Looking at your spelling ,the thought crossed my mind you might be a Mendoza alt.:think
Now I'd like you to show all my misquotes.Waiting!

So now you are talking about my spelling? Desperate times indeed. How about we revert back to boxing?

Oh, and just so you know it doesnt matter how big of a puncher a boxer is, because if they can't land cleanly then the power simply won't be a decider. Louis had a fantastic defense, so I it was really his defense which alllowed him to neutralise Maueriello, and not his underrated chin. From what I do remember is Louis was hit on the button with one of his shots and he definately felt it and was slightly wobbled. So I am not so sure at what point you are trying to make.

Fun fact of the day was Mauriello started out as a middleweight. Oh, yes and he got knocked out by Louis in the very first round. But, please do continue, I am dying to know how Mauriello tests Louis' chin. This is going to be very fun! I really do love having a good debate with Box Rec and Wikipedia warriors.

My argument is with Mendoza stating that Mauriello would be only an average puncher today.
If you want to have a pop at me because I corrected you earlier that's fine, I don't anticipate much difficulty putting you in your lowly place, especially as you mention facts about Mauriello that I was aware of 50 years ago as though they were little known secrets you are revealing.

I know Louis ko'd Mauriello in1 rd ,I know both the quotes the boxers made after the fight and I know what physical problem hindered Mauriello throughout his career and I very much doubt you do.
Here's a clue, you wont find the answer on BoxRec or Wikepedia !
Louis did not have fantastic defence at all.:patsch
Fun Fact Of The Day. Mauriello started out as a WELTERWEIGHT!

ps Sam Langford started out as a LIGHTWEIGHT!
How did that affect his punching power when he was a heavyweight?

Thanks for the technical advice on boxing but from your posts,I would guess I've had more fights than you have had years out of your Dad's ball bag!
Are you familiar with the phrase:
Don't try and teach you Granny to suck eggs?
You bring it on son ,but try and raise your game so as to make it a little bit more of a contest.:hi:

What Mendoza was pointing out was that Mauriello was not a massive puncher at heavyweight, which the facts do show. You tried to correct him on that point.

You keep upping your post count thinking it will give the impresion that you have this great amount of knowledge on boxing history. I do love a debating with these type of people.

I'm only an average poster ,you are not even on the radar.
As I said ,try and raise your game if you want to be taken at all seriously.

Still ****ed off about being corrected I see .
You'll get used to it !:yep

My only criticism is not his chin which was more than good enough or his heart which cannot be seriously questioned but his ring intellect .. there is a reason why his record in rematches is exceptional and it is his physical tools when trained and used properly were exceptional .. however he seemed to not always be able to make adjustments during specific fights which is why I have always felt Jack Johnson would have thrown him off his game and beaten him ..

mauriello like a lot of fighters in those days had gone up from light heavy so would be giving weight away to natural heavies.
I can remember reading that one of his legs was virtually disabled.

He's a 5'11 guy that started boxing at 144 pounds. As a Heavyweight his best weight was 195-205.

If we look at the top ten today, how many would you say Tami Mauriello hits harder than?

    Fury
    Wlad
    Povetkin
    Wilder

    Pulev
    Ortiz
    Stiverne

    Jennings
    Chagaev
    Joshua
    Martin

You tell me. The guys in bold I think hit harder. Remember what I said Average puncher today, and that might be being a little kind.

McVey does not know what he is watching at times or how to interpret data correctly. You'll often get a bait and switch tactics, A to C istead of A to B comparions, double standards, or watch him attempt to take the thread off the tracks to avoid points made that he doesn't fancy.
