Joe Louis has a "private boxing lesson" with Gene Tunney?

Tunney wrote Ali a letter stating,"you have disgraced your country,and your flag".

 

In my oppinion he did both.

 

Dempsey did visit Louis in camp prior to the Schmeling rematch and offered advice, even stepping into the ring with him (not to spar but to instruct) ... I've read Tunney offered advice as well but have no additional details ..

 

Didn't Tunney favor Louis in a hypothetical match up with a gorilla? Wasn't that on here a while ago.

 

I wouldn`t go to war either, its some *** in a suit sending millions to their deaths because some other *** in a suit disagrees with them... fight for family & close friends, thats it... not ****ing strangers that more often than not couldn`t even fight for **** if they needed to.

 

It is fairly well documented that both Dempsey and Armstrong helped Louis prepare for the fight.

Tunney's involvment is more based on heresay.

 

To me that's really interesting. Its hard to imagine a heavyweight fight today being so significant to the world.

Can't you imagine Tyson reading the paper about an upcoming fight, getting a serious look on his face, calling up Larry Holmes and saying "Look...we have to help this kid out!"

Then flying over to his town to help him train lol

 

That puts it into perspective.

Tyson and Duran perhaps.
