Joe Louis held the title for longer than Margret Thatcher held the keys to No 10!

I'd rather he have just held Thatcher in number 10. By the throat. Tightly. Down a toilet.

I don't think he really has any competition for being king of his own division.

11 year title reign, fought every #1 contender between 1936 and 1951 except two where he was off at war. A man like him really does have to be pushed away from the sport, and hard, before he will give it up.

It was only a matter of time.

EDIT: Christ, didn't hear she was dead until just now

Hard to say whether 'Brown Bomber' Louis or 'Iron Lady' Thatcher wrought the most devastating carnage upon their opponents.

Push comes to shove, I suppose Thatcher was a shade more merciless...

Well, they both went to war with Argentinians and Welsh miners. The difference is in the numbers.
