Louis had a win against EBU world champion Lee Savold and another against Jimmy Bivins in the 1950s. Charles beat him by decision and Marciano retired him for good.

Would he stand a chance against some of the top contenders and alphabet champions in history?

He'd probably be the third best light heavyweight right now.

I think he'd be CW myself, hard to take off the fat on the organs past a certain age it seems. But if he could make it without hurting himself, you are right.

You're just calling him a light heavyweight to insult him

I agree that he would be a cruiserweight today. In the 50's, he only fought 10 times and usually was around 210. I don't see him cutting to 175 even with the 24 hour rehydration rules of today. Why would he anyway? He still was a murderous puncher especially with that right hand.

Obviously, Joe was not the fighter he used to be, but I think he was still a formidable and somewhat dangerous fighter in the higher echelons of the Heavyweight Division of the very early fifties. I think he should have been awarded Savold's alphabet belt in his own time.

Correctly me if I’m wrong, but @George Crowcroft is the forum’s resident light heavyweight super-enthusiast.

He’s just trying to wish Joe into the division to join his other faves.
