Louis's biggest opponents were bigger than Ali's and unlike Ali he actually faced world-class opponents who were 240+. The 70s are an era before skilled giant heavyweights
Can anyone give me any explanation for why anyone is booted? It appears to be entirely at the whim of unseen moderators, who so far as I'm aware never deign to explain their reasoning -no doubt because no remotely consistent principle is applied. To whomever may be reading this, that's a really chicken **** way to conduct your forum, frankly. At least have the spine to be frank about it and say "because we feel like it".
Same here. And yet, Luthercorps remains active on the boards, but hey. In Memory of Jake LaMotta seemed like a decent guy around here, and it's strange to me that he'd get kicked like that. Back on topic, I'd say that Louis would do pretty well against most of Ali's foes, and if he's fighting Ali's schedule, I think he can manage pretty well up until Frazier and Foreman. Frazier and Louis would be tremendous. Foreman likely eradicates him, I hate to say. Liston would be a rough test if he shows up to fight, a healthy Patterson would be trouble, but Patterson with a bad back would be a feast for Louis's fists. I actually think he'd fare better against Norton, and would dust his chin with a big combination, and I think Jimmy Young gives an aging Louis a nightmarish matchup.
Joe would of become a heroin addict during the war like a third of GI`s did during the horrors of the nam, he might not of wanted to see any violence after that mess!
If Shavers caught Louis with the punches that gave Ali brain damage and the right that dropped Holmes Louis would still be on the canvas now!
Ali aged pretty quick because he wasn`t as fast after his three year lay off but Holmes said when he joined Ali`s camp in the mid 70`s he wasn`t training properly so that might be the reason.
Ali could take a better punch than Louis that hook he was hit with in the last round v Frazier that decked him would have knocked Louis out cold.
Ali completely dominated Paterson and if Cooper caught Louis with the hook that decked him in the first fight he would haver knocked Louis out that`s why when they had a rematch Ali lost weight for more mobility to take away the hook coming towards Cooper was dangerous.
