Champs from the past should be left in their own era. 100% agree. But don't you ever wonder how good one of those champs could have been today with the advantages of advanced training, clear FILMS of fighters they are facing, cut/swelling/medical treatment? I personally think Joe could have held the belt longer if he had half of the advantages boxers of today have. Sorry to pick of Wlad, but he watched A LOT of film of Barney rubble and decided to combat his southpaw stance by swatting his jab down. That tactic itself is unheard of in the older days of boxing. I remember hearing that boxers would see each other for the first time in the ring. They would analyse their opponent's face and decide their plans. If the guy had a flat or crocked nose they knew he was open to jabs and straight rights. If his checks were fat=hooks. Hands low=scared to get hit in the body, etc. So modern day boxers are clearly advantaged in actually seeing their opponents strengths and weaknesses

You are forgetting something. All of Louis' opponents would ALSO have those advantages. It wasn't as if Joe's opponents had today's advantages either, and that he was just left in the dark. It's a wash. Neither Joe nor his opponents had those advantages. If Joe is allowed to have them, then we would have to allow everyone that he faced to have them as well. So... it is no longer an advantage.

If given the choice of either getting more responses to a yes or no question, or kicking the living **** out of someone in an actual debate, then I'll take the latter of those two. And in fact, I've already gotten my preference not once, but twice now...

    But again, no hard feelings:good

Thats fine Widdow, I gave you a chance to prove yourself as nothing more than a fan of Wlad, not a nuthugger as most suggest. In respect for the thread starter, I will let it go after this post and hopefully catch you on a Wlad thread. I am a Wlad hater, I never denied that, and gave good reasons why I feel that way, but I never let my dislike for him take away from how good of fighter I think he is.

Just for you Widdow, I will name some ATG's I would favor Wlad against.

Patterson, Carnera, Charles, Johansen, Cooper, and Norten.

    Also, Magoo....

Go look at my first couple posts on this topic. It was you guys who IMMEDIATELY started bashing today's fighters. The only reason I brought up Wlad just ONCE was for a very simple reason. He is the best heavyweight today. I mentioned him in passing and you guys just started pouding the "Wlad" subject down my throat. Which of course spins into a "you bash Wlad while I defend" thread.

I'll throw a few more in their just to make him happy, though they are not greats per say.

    L. Spinks, James Douglas, Jess Willard.

The term " You guys" is a blanket statement. I did not start busting your balls on the topic.

:rofl If Widdow was asked who he thought Wlad could beat, every ATG Heavyweights would be named.

The problem is that nobody agrees with you about the only real debate we have had. Except a few admitted Wlad haters who would honestly vote against Wlad no matter what the subject was.

As far as this debate goes... I have CLEARLY backed up my opinions more than you have. As soon as I brought any facts to the table you begin bashing either myself or current champions with nothing but bias. It's pointless. Just look at the last little discussion about the "Louis being vulnerable to right hands". I brought something worthwhile to the table, and you immediately start bashing on Wlad vs Ibragimov.... wtf?:huh

Widdow, this was the first comment that you made, that I think got people going, and no one had said anything derogatory to you preceding it.

The problem is, your little poll survey was not designed to advertise the only debate we have had.. When the topic was conducted under undistorted conditions, the concencus was in my favor, just as it seems to be here.

No, you have argued your position by using mostly opinions with your own little twist on what you call facts. In the rare instance that you made any attempt to use factual information, you were incorrect, ex " Louis has been floored more times in his career than Wlad"

This was false, and when someone called you on it, you back peddled by trying to list examples of times that Wlad was floored, that YOU YOURSELF did not consider knockdowns, regardless of what they were ruled.

I wan't bashing Wlad or Ibragimov, only expressing my opinion that it was a shitty fight, which it most certainly was.

    My sentiments exactly.

I wasn't referring to your very first post, only the one where your frustrations began to show through, regardless of the fact that no one had even said anything to you up to that point.
