An interesting point. I watch him with interest. I will tell you the truth though - the Ibragimov performance troubled me. But we'll see.
:rofl I think he's the minority in his way of thinking, though he at times does provide good logic based posts, unlike that weirdo farmboxer, who reminds me a bit of 2smart4U.
I don't hold WALDS loss to Purrity against him any more than I hold Haye's loss to Thompson against him (except when I want to upset Klit-huggers obviously) However it can't be denied that since that Purrity loss it has been proven time and time again that this is a man that doesn't have what you'd call stellar punch resistance. The constant spinning from the Klitschko fans doesn't exactly help his case either, especially when those of us who actually know the sport have to read **** about WALD being a tough fight for the likes of prime Foreman, Lewis, Tyson, Holmes, Ali etc etc etc. The guy is the best in the heavyweight division right now, no-one is denying that....but he's extremely vulnerable and the division absolutely ****ing stinks at the moment.
Wlad actually was only knocked to the canvas.... Once against Pannell. Once against Puritty. 4 times against Sanders. Once against TOS Once against Peter Wlad was never knocked to the canvas by a punch against Brewster, and was really only dropped one legit time against Peter. If you want to pretend like the nonsense standing 8 count (which wasn't even legal) against Brewster or the rabbit punch or the push down against Peter were actual knockdowns then go ahead. I'm not. I consider knockdowns to be knockdowns... when they were actual knockdowns... to the canvas... from a regular punch or series of punches. In the case of real knockdowns, I have Wlad at 8 and Louis at 10. Also, if you have ever seen the Pannell or TOS knockdowns, you would know they were nothing more than Wlad being completely off balance and basically just knocked in a direction to lose his footing. Certainly not punches that hurt him and put him down. The only reason Wlad was down 4 times against Sanders was because he was man enough to get back up over and over. Wouldn't have made his chin any better if he would have stayed down from the first shot, would it?
He twists facts to suit his own agenda....sure we're all guilty of that and I'm sure he's not a bad guy in all reality we just disagree on boxing points all the time. 2smart on the other hand is just a nut-case who somehow learned how to work a computer in between bouts of arguing with himself, drinking special brew and furiously masturbating over WALD pics.
I can't even be bothered to argue the Peter knock-downs any more, but the bit I've put in bold - do you think that actually helped, or hindered WALD? He was on his way down and for some reason the referee gave him a standing 8 count. Now in my opinion that was doing WALD a favour when he was about to be flattened. The events following tend to back up my way of thinking.
he'll never have great punch resistance but he can and has improved his ability to deal with pressure. cleary, his stamina has improved as well (ie Peter, Brewster rematch) as he does much more sparring and less strength training. like i said, he uses that left hand to stop an opponent's rush by pushing his head down (ie Brewster 2, iggy). he didnt do that with peter and byrd in the rematch. he has developed that trick over time. now, when he gets hit, that's another story but he has become a very hard man to land on. he will not be an easy man to take down. u still shortchange him but i feel he will gain universal acceptance over the next couple of years
On his way down? He was standing against the ropes, just letting Brewster throw what he was throwing. The ref could either let it continue, or stop the fight. Either way there was no standing 8 counts. About whether it helped or hindered Wlad... I don't think it made a damn bit of difference. Wlad was physically finished before Lamon landed anything, and would have eventually collapsed one way or another. He had nothing left in him, and he clearly couldn't catch his breath. The ref's standing 8 really didn't didn't help or hurt. Wlad could take Lamon's punches, he couldn't beat his physical exhaustion.
Please point out to me where I short-changed him in my previous post? I just gave my honest opinion and I don't think it was in any way short-changing the guy. I can honestly say this is the worst I've ever seen the heavyweight division, WALD is the only decent fighter out there. Hopefully that will change in the near future. I don't deny that the man has improved either, but that Sultan fight was extremely telling on several fronts.
Let me correct you Pannell 1 Peter 3, Steward said the punches werent illegal Sanders 4 Williams 1 Brewster 1, it was a standing 8, that's a legit knockdown Purrity 1 That is 11 Widdow, you forgot the Williams knockdown, and didnt count legit knockdowns, nice try.
Maybe you didn't read very well then. I already said that Louis was great FOR HIS ERA. Louis wasn't a small guy by any means during his era. He could fight like that and be overwhelming to most of his opponents. However, he isn't going to to be overwhelming Klitschko like that. Sorry.
It's that kind of post that hurts the Klits on here more than anything. I wish you guys would just deal with the Brewster loss for what it was. I'm not prepared to go over all this **** again, anyone who saw the fight knows WALD got caught with punches and was out on his feet as a result. Nothing to do with stamina, blood sugar, vaseline or whatever.
It isn't Williams, it's Williamson. And his nickname is "Touch of Sleep", or "TOS". I did name him. I also named all of the legit knockdowns. Sorry but a punch to the back of the head and a push down are not actual knockdowns. Thanks for trying though.
