Thanks, nice to have finally seen that fight, as short as it ws. Louis actually did his old friend a favor by dispatching him him so fast.
John Henry will still a solid fighter, beat some great fighters. there was no one like Joe Louis at Heavyweight...thanks Suzie
A half-blind light heavyweight should not challenge Joe Louis. That's the moral of the story. Lewis did have some major guts though.
I think Louis was a more overwhelming favourite for this one than for any other fight in his career. 7-1 against Lewis winning and 4-1 against him finishing.
And with Louis, a friend indeed can quickly become a friend in need. I hope Lewis did get paid well, because Louis was at his destructive best in this fight.
Lewis was blind in one eye and it was only a matter of time before he got his boxoing liscence withdrawn. Louis decided to give him the biggest payday to be had in the sport before that happened.
I don't know anything about an illness. I do know that he was basicaly in the same position as Frank Bruno before the second Tyson fight. Ranked, but blind in one eye, and a liscence revocation waiting to happen. That meant that it was all about the one big fight.
