    The left hook off the jab was one of the best I have ever seen

    • Location: Municipal Stadium, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
    • Referee: Joe McGuigan
    Notes
    • Attendance was 40,407.
    • The gate was $210,117.25.
    • Lew Tendler, who challenged Benny Leonard for the World Lightweight Championship and Mickey Walker for the World Welterweight Championship, was Ettore's co-manager and second for the fight. (The Ring, Dec. 1953, p. 31)
    • Louis floored Ettore for a 3-count in round one and a nine-count in the fourth. Louis dropped Ettore for the third and final time in the fifth round. Ettore fell through the ropes as he tried to beat the referee's count.

    The last hook that dropped Ettore for good was completely brutal. Everything he threw was so tight and compact, maximum efficiency for complete destruction.

    It's awful to watch.

    He feeds the guy a right behind the ear, they clinch, he keeps the right locked up, puts in the head, feeds him out to the distance he wants him at. It's just awful to see a guy get handled like that. What chance do you have?

    Louis was just a constant stream of physical and mental pressure and abuse. A terrible foe.
