I'm with you Seamus. There was a time when Louis would have been circling Louis, weaving in and out, peppering slow-as-molasses Rocky with jabs and slamming him with great combos.

This is about right imo Louis has nothing to worry Patterson with. It will go longer than the Marciano fight because Floyd didnt apply that constant pressure, but at some point , once Joe's legs are gone, Floyd gets home with a couple of those left hooks and Louis falls.
It was the left hook that started Louis' downfall against Rocky, maybe because he was watching for the right, but Galento and Baer had him over with that punch.

Louis' problem wasn't his shoulder ,it was eroded reflexes.

Patterson should win. His speed at that point would represent a huge problem for Louis. Not saying Louis couldn't win, because he wasn't as shot as people made him out to be - but if I had to put actual money down, Floyd would be getting it. Prime for prime, Louis probably stops Patterson.

Yes, this. At a certain age everything just seems to slow down. Reflexes, your own punches etc.

    Dear The Seamus,

There would be wasting and lots of it... ....but Louis would be wasting Patterson.

I noticed a certain poster still hasn't voted or given their opinion. Pretty cowardly.

I'll have you know I resemble that comment!

In all seriousness, Patterson is all kinds of wrong for that version of Louis. I don't see the Brown Bomber going the distance, sadly.

For me, Louis of the Walcott fight 1 beats Patterson. This version maybe not, but Patterson is ripe for the taking at any moment, with any lapse in concentration.

Louis was totally shot at that point against Floyd it would look like he was moving in slow motion. Floyd by stoppage.

37 year old Lewis is a better boxer than 37 year old Louis.
