Great video With so many oversized heavyweights these days, its doubtful we will ever see such a quick handed, powerful and accurate puncher ever again.
Joe Louis was in my opinion the best combination puncher the heavyweight division has ever seen. Excellent timing, accuracy, precision and speed.
Joe was the perfect puncher. He didn't throw wild punches. We talk about Liston being intimidating, as well as Tyson and Foreman When it comes to his demeanor and the way he broke a man down totally cold. Deadpan expression. By the time he was in his prime i dont think Sonny, Tyson or Big George intimidated their opponents anymore than Joe Louis did. Ray Arcel was in camp with 14 of Louis challengers or opponents. He has some funny stories abour guys just losin it as the fight approached.
We won't, not a cat in hells chance. It's sad to think, but Louis is a total one off in the heavyweight division, at that size.
Joe Louis was like a robot, programmed to seek and destroy. Sort of like a Terminator, but without the Austrian accent
Joe called Arcel "The Meat Wagon" because he brought so many of Louis's victims to the ring. On one occasion when Ray was in the ring about to drag away another limp carcass, Joe looked him with that expressionless face and just said " You again".
He's lucky that Ray Arcel didn't bring Shannon Briggs to the ring. Louis may have ended up being "the meat".
