    Not really.

And an assumption again. Okay, if you want to answer on things that you assume instead of to things actually written then do it. Don´t expect me to react to this anymore though.

I did , you ignore it.

You want proof? Ali wanted to quit against Liston but went 14 grueling rounds with Frazier in Manilla.

Yeah, because most of what you wrote was already adressed. Sorry but I´m too lazy to either write it again or show you were. So, go and look for yourself if you´re interested.

And sorry, when you want an answer than you should adress what I wrote and not what you assume it means.

Boxing is using a jab, stick and move. But Conn didn´t do that for large parts of the fight, he was in there with Louis in close range, made him miss and pay. When I watched it the first time I rooted for Conn but always had the feeling that his time would be up at one point because it was jsut too risky to do that with Joe Louis - especially for someone as small as Conn.

I have addressed everything you've said and so has Bokaj, but our efforts are futile, because you keep changing your position, side stepping your initial comments, or finding ways to further distort the issue.

BOTTOM LINE : Ali was prime in the sixties.. Not in the seventies..
There is no proof to suggest that he was mentally tougher in the seventies... Louis is a concencus underdog in any match against Ali...

What exactly do you call this?

    Yes. Really.

So a pretty green and unproven Clay coming through blinded against one of the best and most brutal finishers in HW history is your "proof"? I think that says it all, really.

For absolutely years i've been picking Louis. Now I pick Ali. Weirdly, it's become the case as my appreciation for Louis as a boxer has deepened. I missed to much to understand before - but he waits to long for Ali IMO.

And, Bodhi, even though you think Ali was clearly mentally weaker in the 60's than the 70's, were he also mentally weaker than Braddock, Conn, Godoy, Farr, Pastor, Galento etc? Because neither of them lost due to any mental issues.

Christ, reading the last two pages of this thread actually hurt my eyes.

    EDIT:Braddock was mentally impregnable.

Joe wins. Ali gets caught with Joe's left hook then he ends the fight by KO

Two all time greats does not always make for a great fight. Ali has a huge foot speed edge. Combined with height, reach, and his unorthodox style, Louis is in for a long night.

Louis was slow footed, had a low guard, and was not exactly a chase you down type of stalker like Frazier was. Basically Louis would need a one shot type of punch that sets up or produces the KO. Ali's chin is much better than Walcott's and Conn -- two boxers that really made Louis look bad.

I think Ali wins and makes Louis look bad. Ali on points, 11 rounds to 4.

I like reviewing the "Louis-Conn" fights of 1941 and 1946.... Conn really had Louis lost in space in fight # 1 for a good 11 rds, but then Louis got his head out from his ass and turned on the heat before closing the show in rd. 13... WORD!

Fight # 2 of '46 was a yawner of a fight... Both men had dipped and slipped from 1941....

I have a 1976 issue of World Boxing magazine that has a fantasy fight between "Louis & Ali" all worked out... The final call was Ali by 13th rd. TKO with Louis bloodied, but on his feet protesting to no avail...

i think joe louis in many ways is better then ali...and i think he is better in his prime then dempsey or marciano...yet i actually think dempsey and maricano would stand a better chance of beating ali then louis would. And its a stylistic thing....louis's footwork was effecent and much better then many people realize..nonetheless i dont think it matches up well with Ali....

Louis did have trouble with movers...

i think louis's best chance is to outsmart ali..make ali come to him..and then use his sharp shooting to score on ali....

but all in all..i see this as a soild Ali win...as much as i would love Louis to take it.
