Yes, and than he put them back in before the break was up..truely an artist of his profession. Did you see the part in the third round where Maricnao knocks off the back of Louis' hair, he was clearly not that bald at the start of the fight. hmmmm.
:? This film doesn't show it .... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMBfW1rkc6U&feature=related[/ame] Can anyone point me towards the piece of film or the post-fight interview where Rocky's mouth is bloody and front teeth are missing ? Thanks.
I have a photo of rocky smiling right after the fight with a big wide grin and he has no front teeth and a bloody mouth. So I guess that dentist didnt do such a good job of putting those teeth back in.
"When Rocky was embarrassed,he would curl his upper lip drawing the skin tight against the partial plate that bridged his upper front teeth." Rocky Marciano, page 234. Everett M Skehan.
Perhaps you should re-read my statement pea brain. I said I can't think of any other ATG heavyweights that could beat him at age 34. besides Lennox Lewis.
HA. ANY BESIDES LEWIS? So, Liston at age 34 would not defeat Walcott? Holmes at age 34 would not defeat Walcott?
That settles it for me. If someone can show me where he lost his teeth before Louis I'll buy that. But the photos I have show a bloody maw and no teeth, and yes they are similar to the one above, although at least one is in the ring.
No, seriously, i dont know. You should post the photos. Marciano could have worn false front teeth his whole career for all I know. That's not unusual. You've stated more than once that Marciano got his teeth knocked out by Joe Louis, so really the onus is on you to present evidence.
As has been said the onus is on you to prove your statement. Skehan's book mentions," blood coming from Rocky's nostrils ,and a slight cut at the corner of the eye",but no bloody mouth and no mention of teeth being knocked out.
There's no mention in any report or recollection of the fight that Joe Louis knocked Rocky Marciano's front teeth out, that's why I was so interested in the statement to begin with. Of course, I might be wrong, I haven't read everything. I think when a fighter wins by brutal KO in 8 rounds yet had to endure having his own front teeth knocked out in the same fight, that's very remarkable and not a run-of-the-mill event. Therefore, I'm surprised it wasn't reported or recollected in biographies and documentaries, especially considering the historical significance of the fight. I'm surprised Marciano never said something like, "Gee, Joe Louis was my toughest fight. They say he was over the hill but I tell you he busted me up something awful, knocked my front teeth clean out of my head !" The only person who I've seen mention it is Klompton, several times in more than one thread in recent months.
