Ali actually admitted that Walcott would have been a tough fight, which is rare for Ali to do.

God what I would give for a time machine to see Louis defend his title against Elmer Ray and Lee Q Murray. Ray Arcel Called Murray the best puncher of the era outside of Louis.

I wouldn't mind seeing Louis vs Tyson. How is Louis's uppercuts?

    Absolutely brutal.

He basicaly wrecked Buddy Baer using mainly his uppercut.

So he'd have more than a good chance of beating Tyson then? I think Tyson's style is best suited against BIG men. If a guy can get his uppercut low and has enough punching power, especially in his right hand, he can nullify Tyson's approach.

I think Tyson might even have to box in places to win this fight, but I don't know if Tyson is capable of boxing as he mainly used Cus D'Amato's approach.

He would basicaly have a great chance of beating anybody.

The only way another all time great beats him is if either, they come up with a great fight plan, or he comes up with a misguided one.

I think guys like Ali, Walcott, and Holmes would give him a very tough fight.

I guess I would throw Lennox in that category too, but Louis could get underneath Lewis's punches and batter him on the inside with rapid combinations.

The bottom line is that we dont know what would happen.

What we do know is that a tacticaly prepared Louis, would be any fighters worst conceivable nightmare made real.

If they got past that they would have earned the GOAT status.

    I have Louis #1 and Ali #2

Louis was naturally a more talented boxer and he had better physical gifts so in put him in number #1.

I have put Ali as #2 if we are rating boxing skill. He would be #1 in developing skills and the sport in general. The Ali roper dope and footwork was unprecedented and he developed and shaped boxing, but he would get counter punched by Louis. Ali's footwork was good at fighting when fighting defensively but Louis was the fastest and most accurate puncher and would catch Ali.

Walcott on a good night is capable of upsetting any of the Heavy ATG's but he had the style to really trouble Ali...I would not be surprised if he upset Ali....Tyson...Holyfield...he came close with Louis and Marciano...Walcott was a slick spoiler with 2 fisted power...he just was not always consistant

Ali's right hand was very good, though. It was fast, precise and well timed. And when he really sat on it I think it was every bit as powerful as Schmeling's. Just look at what it did to Mildenberger (who was doing acrobatics after being hit by it), Williams, Foreman and Lyle. If you have trouble with the right, straight or overhand, you're going to have trouble with Ali.
