I was just at Boxrec.com and saw that Joe's win total has been reduced from 69 to 65, does anyone know why? I assume its because of updated confirmations but I was wondering if any of you guys had any details. I dont like seeing wins leave his record.
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=9027&cat=boxer http://coxscorner.tripod.com/louis_record.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Louis#Professional_career_2 It looks like some of his wins in 1935 are now not counted (Benton, Stanton, Davis, and Toles), According to boxrec, they're probably now viewed as exhibitions. The win over Bennett was "billed as exhibition" according to wiki. There's also the win in 1944 over Johnny Davis which is not counted on the Monte Cox page, is said to be "non-title" on the wiki page, but still is on the boxrec record and said it was a title fight per the NYSAC ruling.
http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/jlouis.htm This is a pretty good resource too, along with the ones Thread Stealer listed. You can see how many dozens of exhibitions Louis fought throughout his career.
Thanks alot guys. By the way who's gonna win, Froch or Taylor? (I figured I would ask since were here).
