Look through the list: Carnera, Baer, Sharkey, Walcott (2x's), Conn (2x's), Braddock, Schmeling, Lewis. Seven HOF HW's. Is there any other boxer who can compete with this track record? Louis went 10-1-0 with this group of men.

Thing is, though Greb was so dominate, how many of the victims are in the HOF?

IMHO, Greb's biggest fights were with Tunney. He didn't get the decision on several occasions against 'The Fighting Marine'. I still wonder how a Dempsey/Greb encounter would have went, considering the lore goes that Greb humiliated Dempsey in a few exhibitions.

Harry Greb was simply the greatest and most remarkable fighter in history. His amazing career, against much larger great fighters, who he licked time and again, can never be duplicated....MY HERO.... However much success he had sparring afew times against Jack Dempsey in traing sessions, Greb was quoted several times admitting, to the press at the time"in a real fight, after 5 or 6 rounds Jack would kill me".Greb was honest...He new better.....Even the "Pittsburgh Windmill ", new his limitations.......

but are most of these guys like Baer and and Sharkey relly be called "Legends"????

Marciano, legend, Dempsey, legend, Louis, legend, Ali Legend, Greb, legend. ete.

You should get the point. I put these guys as legends, plus others like Armstrong, Ross, Walker ete.

I would have to be relly drunk when I start calling Jack Sharkey a legend.

When it comes to heavyweights Louis may be the top dog on the block, but I don't know about the lower weight classes. With all the fighters who have jumped weight to take on multiple champions over the last 100 years, I'm guessing that there have to be a few guys who at least match or slightly surpass him in the legend beater department.

If the likes of Mike McTigue and George Chip ever make the IBHOF, the number will go to 15 for Greb.

Jimmy McLarnin is a close number 2 with wins over 12 different HOFers.

    Barney Ross
    Tony Canzoneri
    Lou Ambers
    Sammy Mandell
    Benny Leonard
    Billy Petrolle
    Kid Kaplan
    Young Corbett III
    Pancho Villa
    Fidel LaBarba
    Bud Taylor
    Jackie Fields

He still has a chance to rise above Greb if Al Singer, Sammy Fuller, Joe Glick, Sammy Baker, Young Jack Thompson are ever inducted. They may not be but you never know.
