    It's no big deal though.
People say "Imagine what Foreman would do to Conn!", yet Foreman was on the deck against Jimmy Young, who was about as weak a puncher as Conn was.
Difference is, Louis knocked the f--k out of Conn.

I am about the biggest Louis fan here, and I have never thought that he was shown a lack of respect.

He is the one old timer, that fans of modern fighters seem to consistently respect.

The people who don't respect him, I chalk up to the fact that you can't convince everybody.

Louis gets his respect for the most part as an ATG fighter.

Where he doesn't get enough respect is his impact in terms of race and breaking barriers.

Everyone mentions Jackie Robinson, and Muhammad Ali. Louis belongs in this category. Jackie acknowledged that he couldn't have done what he did in baseball without Louis paving the way for him.

You could argue that Louis had more pressure on him than any athlete ever to perform, when he fought Schmeling the 2nd time. People talk about nowadays with Twitter and all that, but that's more just attention and criticism. The friggin president of the US basically said to Louis "the country is counting on you to beat Schmeling to send a message that we're going to win the war".

Louis is terribly overlooked when it comes to his impact in breaking racial barriers, and it annoys me.

Louis had more impact than any other athlete in history, in terms of breaking the colour bar.

He didn't plan it that way, but that is how it turned out.

In a war, sometimes average men become heroes!
