It hasn't, though. You still see shitty technique in fights as you did in Joe's time. I haven't seen a better technical puncher than Louis so where is this evolution I keep hearing about?
Stiverne is 6'3 and 240 pounds with 80" reach. Good jab, good counterpunching ability with power and chin. Louis never faced anybody as good as Stiverne. There are a guys today that could give Joe all he can handle and knock him out.
Ive seen Stiverne live, in person, and up close. Hes nothing special. Louis was VERY special. Everything Stiverne can do Louis can do better. Louis. Im not going to say what round, or that it would be over in 1, but Louis would get the job done.
Quite possibly, but it's hard to compare eras. There may have been others in previous years who could beat Joe, too. I just don't see an evolution in skills, just a change in the average size of Heavyweights.
No he's nothing special but he might be the best of the bunch today after Wlad ,and possibly cause an upset if they meet. Stiverne is several leagues below Louis for skill but probably could give him an interesting night ,at least for several rounds.
Very quick hands, Stiverne. Sneaky round the guard right hand, too. Looks decent, in fairness to the fella. Low hands a slight worry, but some guys like that style. Certainly no mug for my money.
Unless he proves otherwise in the months and years to come, Stiverne, as well as Arreola would have fit in nicely in the Bum of the Month Club.
Arreola maybe but I don't think Stiverne would be bum of the month fodder. I'm not saying Louis couldn't beat him but Stiverne presents interesting challenges for Louis. Louis always kept his jab hand low and was always vulnerable to right hand counters after he threw his jab, Stiverne happens to possess a very good right hand counter. He also is about 40 pounds heavier than Louis but not a bumbling oaf like Primo Carnera or Buddy Baer. I think Stiverne would knock Louis out much in the same way Schemling did but in maybe round 6 or 7.
He boxes like a poor mans Walcott, easier to tag and not as sharp but much much stronger and heavier. Louis should win but may have to come from behind to do so.
I don't think we can make Stiverne a live challenger simply on the basis of beating Chris Arreola. Tomasz Adamek is a more proven fighter than Stiverne.
