No they weren't, but they prove that Louis has the firepower, to take Foreman down. He is not too big, his chin is not too good! That comes down to the stylistic argument. Louis was a counter puncher, and Foreman's primary vulnerability, was to a counter puncher. If you don't like my pick, then lets both sit back with a beer, and see what happens!
I like big George Foreman here. Louis though possibly the best offensive heavyweight in history lacked the foot speed, defensive skill, or most important the chin to survive Foreman. Nor was Louis likely to agitate Foreman to the point of fighting the dumbest fight in history the way Ali did. It wasn't his personality. What are we left with? Does Louis have the ability to continously avoid Foreman's bombs? Not by the multiple fighters that put Louis on his ass multiple times that were not in Foreman's league for power or skill. Could Louis simply beat Foreman to the punch or counter punch him when he missed? This is likely, but could he hurt Foreman enough early on to dissuade him from continuing to barrel in would be the question. I don't believe he could. Most judge Foreman on the Ali fight. And to judge him on this fight only is wrong. Foreman was against the greatest heavyweight in history, also the greatest mind game player in history , in the middle of Africa where it seemed the entire country was against him . He fought possibly the dumbest fight in history. This fight has many believing he had serious endurance issues. Most don't take into serious account of the extreme special circumstances of this fight. Or notice he didn't have question marks about his endurance until this fight. A fight with Louis wouldn't have all of those different circumstances. Louis had the power and skill to land that shot from nowhere and hurt Foreman. But 8 out of 10 times Foreman would over power him and stop Louis early and brutally.
