Holmes fought Bey who refused to fight Coetzee ,when he had a chance to 1. make big bucks and 2. win the title.Holmes was a great fighter but a difficult man imo,he referred to Bey ,who is of mixed race as "that half breed".

Holmes had trouble with Spinks 2 losses, Louis would win

I haven't got time at the moment to read all the responses, but my gut feel says Larry by close decision over 15.

I see only 2 likely scenarios in this matchup. Holmes by decision or Louis by KO. Holmes had the height, reach and movement to outbox Louis and a hard enough punch to make Louis hesitate in his pursuit of Holmes. If Conn could outbox Louis for 12 rounds then Larry could do it for 15. On the other hand if Louis does hurt or deck Larry (And that's a distinct possibility) then Joe probably finishes him. Joe wouldn't rush in blindly and throw wild haymakers ala Shavers and Snipes. Joe was as cool as a cucumber and threw precise deadly combos when his man was hurt. If Larry is hurt against Joe then it's goodnight. So which is the more likely outcome? If I'm betting a weeks pay then I'll put my money on Larry. He's a big mobile durable fighter with one of the best jabs in the division's history. If I'm betting my life saving's then I'll take Louis by late rounds KO. The best precision punching HW champ in the division's history. No matter how you look at it this one is a tough one to call.
