LOL ok now I'm just playing with y'all. Classic tends to get caught up in the sepia-tinted romanticism of the old days. I've put forward an argument and I think it stands well on its own. Appeals to historical relevance don't particularly impress me unless we're talking about 'greatest' lists where Louis is top 3 on most lists, and Povetkin, sadly, is nowhere. H2H is a different kettle of fish in my opinion, and I've listed the reasons why Povetkin does well against Louis. Clocking out of this before some old timers blow a valve
I know that you're trolling now, but do you really think that Povetkin should be favored against Louis?
Does anyone here honestly believe that Conn, as he was, would give today's top HWs a run for their money?
I do think he'd have an edge, yes, for the reasons that I listed. I'm not saying he'd blow him out if that's what you think I'm saying.
No, I don't. And as for the thread title, I would favour Louis to beat Povetkin. Now that I have answered your question, how about you answer mine: Do you believe Conn would give the top-10 HWs of today a run for their money?
Don’t be rude bud. If you can read you’d see I said that I do believe Conn could, yes big and dumb go together nicely and these guys are part timers compared to Billy in terms of skill. He won’t beat every HW today for a certainty, no one can say. But I’d say he could beat some of the ten safely without thinking much on it, but I’d have to think more on it when we talk about the top 3. Sorry for the multiple edits: busy
How am I being rude? I'm simply questioning your statement, that Billy would win world titles from LM to HW. Why does this offend you?
Hitchens's quote isn't much use here. Both sides are analyzing a hypothetical fight between a retired man and a deceased man. Neither is in any position to prove it in the ring. I guess you could be consistent and just answer every single "versus" thread by saying that nobody can know, end of. But that would make the forum very boring.
