I forgot that Thread Stealer (known as "PED user" on another forum) still goes by his previous nickname on this forum.

Ouch, you can see every time he connects with that left hook how bad it hurts.

"Fear is standing across the ring from Joe Louis knowing he wants to go home early"- Was that Max or Buddy?

Wow after watching the first minute of this fight in this type of quality, I can EASILY reaffirm that Joe Louis is by far the greatest puncher ever.

The jab makes Baer crumble, each hook makes his body shake. What the hell am I watching???

    Joes footwork is excellent.

Look at 8:30, during the knockout

He touches Baers chin. TOUCHES. And his head turns sideways? WTF?!

    Louis is God

I believe that was Max. Buddy Baer said after this fight that no one in history could have beaten Louis that night.

    Yes.

That block and counter you see of Baer's jab round 7:14 is epic, so quick and instinctive...The upper/hook combo he used to get the 1st KD was ridiculous

You really can't say enough for the heart of Baer. He rushed to get up at the end just to beat the count and clearly wasent happy at the end.

Joe Louis in his prime was magnificent .. Baer was young, strong as hell, had a terrific chin and a huge right hand and Louis tore him to pieces .. what a fighter ...

You guys want an excellent example of how film quality changes our perception of things?

Look at the combo at 6:15

Watch Louis feet. See all the steps he took to stay on balance, and how his feet kind of did a shuffle?

Imagine Haye doing that. Or Klitschko. Wouldn't it seem so visually stimulating? It's a film school term, but what I mean is, wouldn't it catch your attention? Do you think they would replay that moment, and commentate on how the fighters feet shuffled around like that trying to maintain balance?

Yet, when your watching it on this film quality, its like "Yea so? His feet moved back and forth whats the big deal?" On modern cameras, it would look like a much more significant thing.

Each punch you see, each fient, slip, parry, block. These are all much more intense then these old cameras let off. It almost looks like theres figurines fighting with the old footage.

This is such a great upload, because you can clearly see how big a difference just a little increase of quality can do for a boxing video. Watch Louis first three landed punches. I think theres a jab, and then a 2 punch combo with a hook. I have never seen or "felt" this type of power watching Louis than I did with this video. The entire stadium can hear every punch Louis lands

These are my favorite threads, and is the main reason why I hang around this forum. This video never gets old.

Louis wasn't doing a very good job of staying in his corner after the knockdowns.
