Yeah, okay dude. And next you're going to tell me he is joining Batman and Superman as the next member of the Justice League.

Tua has a way better basic skillset than either Baer or Galento. Please.

Better head movement, footwork, better combo throwing...

Now, wax on about Galento's fine subtleties... I find that hilarious on another level.

I would say Tua was slightly more skilled than Galento, or at least with a more conventional textbook style, but he was nowhere near as explosive as Galento. Not even close.

Galento had a very tough match with prime Louis, but brought the fight with him, and tried to make big opportunities. And he had some success, landing really big shots, and putting Louis down.

Tua, when fighting someone of great class is a tamed fighter with a pawing jab, and some head movement, who occasionally threw a leaping hook.

Galento was constantly in motion, throwing huge looping punches from top, down, left, right. He was taking big shots from Louis just to land a short left hook of his own to jolt his opponent.

    First, watch Louis - Galento
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LVEV8EriJg

Notice the pacing of the fight. Galento knows he's going to get his ass kicked making it a long fight, so he takes the big risks and lands a good amount of dangerous blows before gtting TKO'd. He's all over the place. Jumping and and out. Getting punched n the face, and then throwing two huge hooks of his own. He's making it a fight! A dangerous fight!

    Now watch Tua - Lewis
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7gRqx-7XZQ

He starts off with some fire in the first 20 seconds! But after that, Tua turns into a "slow walker." He goes on this autopilot routine, and basically waits for his own demise. Even the commentators remark "This is not an exciting fight..."

Honestly, by the second half of the first round, what was he even doing to make it any challenge for Lewis?? He literally does nothing.

Galento was by far more explosive.

Simple question, if Tua was so great why did he achieve absolutely nothing of note?

Louis would get knocked out in 1-2 rounds. Massive mismatch. Theres 90 years of development between the fighters, very unfair match for Louis.

Regardless of picks if Tua's the product of 90 years of "development" on Joe Louis i'd hate to see 60 or 30

[quote This is a fact, another fact is Galento floored Louis and got his attention with a left hook in the opening round.Tua is faster and more skilled than Tony.I don't pick him to beat Louis, but the idea that this matchup is a ludicrous farce does not fly.

How about Tua v Moorer was he explosive in that fight?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LogWnXbEWOc

See that right hand fromTua? The one they say he doesn't have?
He is twice as fast of both hand and foot than Galento ,whose feet look like they are encased in cement. Now watch Baer v Galento and agree that Tua has far more skills than either.

We have almost 0 footage of Galento. If we had all of his fights, like we do with Tua, there would be some bombastic knockouts in the reel.

We have his fight with his toughest opponent Louis. So it's fair to compare that with Tua Lewis. And that version of Tua....well you can see for yourself.

Look, Tua was an awesome puncher. But he was not the next coming of Jesus like some here believe. People who want to shortchange Louis in attempt to put Tua on the radar need a reality check.

I've read that Louis had the second best plus-minus (not the same thing as the most accuracy) but I would like to know a lot more about this study. Which fights of his did it include? Which other boxers were included? All fighters of all weight classes or just "greats"? Would love to see the compubox data and the actual study. Do you have a link?

Aside from the fact he KO'd three future or past heavyweight champions and stayed in the Ring ratings for 8 consecutive years, one could (and should) argue there is a huge gulf in talent and skill between the likes of Max Baer and Lou Nova and the likes of Lennox Lewis and Ike Ibeabuchi.

You can't possibly think the Lewis fight is representative of Tua at his most explosive. This is just silly. BTW, you do realize that in boxing terminology, "explosive" doesn't mean "aggressive," right?
