They were known as big punchers in their day. Time to give Galento and Buddy the credit they deserve.
Holyfield by SD . I think Louis does better against someone like Lennox Lewis, he would knock him out. Holyfield had a heck of a chin, I do tnot hink he gets stopped.
Louis by comfortable UD. Tough fight. Holyfield is a warrior but, if we're talking about which of the two was better geared towards winning rounds, then the most likely outcome is Joe winning the majority of them.
Even if they did hit harder, Holyfield is infinitely more skilled, more fluent and more capable in punching with correct technique speed and versatility when at his best. It really doesn't matter - I would wage that Evan Fields does better than Galento or any of the Baers. Holyfield's own ego and penchant to get tagged and go to war is going to be his downfall in the match-up for me. Louis' jab was very heavy and although, Evander is stronger on the inside, when Louis starts tagging him with short, sharp combos on the way inside, I can see Evander becoming more and more predictable as he starts trying to walk through Louis to get his power shots off.
Nah, I share your thinking. In fact, unless he can maintain distance boxing and not being tempted in (which for me is virtually impossible in an ATG fire-fight for Holyfield), then I can see the Louis that beat up Max Baer doing some bad things in the ring with a game Holyfield who sees the final round based on heart and good ol' fashioned guts, as well as a lenient referee.
Holyfield for me. Too quick and too relentless but it’s his advantage in footwork that’s the difference. Prime Holyfield moved in and out of range brilliantly
