Holyfields problem, for most of his career, was that he would talk pre-fight about how he was going box, move and control the fight. Then he'd get hit and start a brawl winging eleven or twelve punches back at his opponent like a mad lad. Against Joe Louis that is suicide.
Louis stops him in about eight. Holyfield too willing to engage, & here he has no advantages in speed, power, precision or combination punching. Outclassed, simply. Holyfield said once that Louis wouldn’t even be a hard night’s work for him.
Yep. One of the reasons I loved him so much. Was NEVER gonna be boring no matter who it was against LOL.
With even more PED’s Louis still wins. No amount of PED’s will make you a better boxer there hasn’t been one like or near Louis ever and he was as natural as breathing.
Louis. Dare I say Holyfields not even capable of winning this fight. Normally Holyfield can get his 5 rounds and make it look close I think this is a lopsided decision if Holyfield can go the distance at all. With Holyfield my big criticism is just how many HWs could have had comparable or better careers with his oppurtunities. There are many HWs who could give Louis some problems whether because of 10-8s or something. Holyfields not a threat to Louis in my mind.
Evander I’ve heard described as arrogant constantly by trainers and sparring partners. If you ask he’d tell you he could beat Mothra - healthy attitude for his profession.
Boxers take PEDs because they improve performance. They will give you the ability to beat someone you otherwise couldn't.
Any edge sure - more endurance, more strength, better recovery from injuries. But the great boxers have overcome physical superiority many times - it’s not all that. Canelo would get toyed with by Archie Moore (who he’d share a weight class with) I wonder who’d be breathing harder? Who’d be stopped? How helpful is it? We don’t know the full extent just because everyone does it, or is assumed. Evander Holyfield got worse as he got bigger - Boxing makes you a better boxer you don’t need to get juiced up for chess.
Uh, Evander was an absolutely fabulous and well-skilled scientific fighter, so yeah, the difference is the PEDs.
