Joe Louis vs. Evander

It would be a war while it lasted.
Louis by KO in 8 or 9 rounds.

 

I don't think there's a fighter in history that Louis wouldn't eventually pin down.

I think many could outbox him from range but at some point he'll land his shots and there's only one man I can see standing upto those shots and that man ain't Vander.

 

I am having a very difficult picking the outcome to this....I don't want to be the guy that picks a draw in a hypothetical, but for right now that is the pick I am the most comfortable with...

Over 15 rather than 12 I will fall off the fence on the side of Louis, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with that pick at all.

Louis would have trouble to begin with against Evander, maybe drops more rounds than he wins in the first 5/6, but his cleaner work and punches would begin to take it's toll. Louis would seriously shake up Evander around the 8th and finishing him off with a devastating right in the 11th.

 

Louis wins and quite possibly by stoppage

 

Old Holmes timed Evander pretty well at times. Granted, Louis would have to do so at center ring, but he had such neat timing, short combos, I think Evander gets caught and hurt throughout the fight. Louis draws, Evander leads and they both punch with eachother.

Competitive fight, with the destructive power of Louis making the difference.

 

Louis would win via bruising decision. Joe would likely climb off the canvas once or twice, but he'd do it and go on to drill Evander with hard, sharp punches enroute to a decision win.

Evander tended to get tagged with jabs and could be hit with crosses and uppercuts. It just so happens Louis had a very punishing jab, a great cross, and hard uppercuts. Evander would be walking into punches left and right whilst be hit with hard jabs. Evander did have the heart and was a good enough puncher to deck Joe, though.

Louis was dropped often, and I don't see why Evander wouldn't be one of many to put Louis on the deck.

Don't think that Holyfield wouldn't have been put on his ass as well...and i think it would have ended in a ko for Joe.

 

Holy was there to be hit...and you don't survive when Louis is doing the hitting.

 

Louis was a once in a lifetime talent. Greatest most highly skilled hwt fighter ever to live. In his prime he could do it all...one punch ko power in either fist, machine gun like combinations, one of boxings greatest jabs. Most greatly underrate or are just ignorant of Louis boxing ability. He was one of boxings all time great boxers.....he could niftily slip, block, parry, bob and weave and counter seamlessly to vital areas of the body with pinpoint accuracy. Prime vs prime Louis was too much for any other champion so its no surprise that he stops Holy within 9 rounds.

 

Its not going to matter. He is fighting prime Joe Louis.
