No one here claimed he was anywhere near his best. He wasn't. But if you compare him to any other fighter in the world in 1950, he was still a monster. A big guy who could punch and box. You better be a great fighter if you expect to beat even this declined version of Joe Louis.
exactly. Louis had a good run in his comeback after charles against rated heavyweights. If a new heavyweight recorded the same results at that time hed be taken seriously as a threat to the title and also be #1 contender.
As a fan of his that has watched his fights, it is pretty sad to watch this version of Louis no matter what he may be doing to the competition even at this point. That doesn't look like Joe Louis. This does. This content is protected
peak louis is the finest heavyweight there was. I have studied all of his film fights in depth, this version of Louis is not "joe louis" you and I know. Im just saying that under another name this "imposter" is a rated contender who beat contenders and deserves to be recognised as such. there have been worse #1 contenders than 1950 joe louis in most decades.
there has been a lot worse! fred went a lot of rounds with a peak charles, i think he got stopped on cuts or a bad ear, I forget?
Beshore never beat anybody of note though, bar a 40+ year old Tiger Jack Fox. He is best known for game losing efforts.
this is true, but he had something to last as long as he did against a peak charles. there is many a chalenger who got a shot off one win and a fair record. I know that you know there have been plenty worse title chalengers than freddie.
