I don't know who would win but athlete's predictions should be taken with a grain of salt. They range from self effacing to grandiose.

This would be Foreman’s chance to feel like Frazier in 73.

    I beg to differ.

Are we talking about the same Foreman who went life and death with Lyle?
The one who was outboxed by glorified contender Young?

In order to take Louis out, Foreman first need to catch him, and Louis could be a very, very elusive fish.

Furthermore Louis had a punch of his own and Foreman had not exactly a granite chin. Being the agressor will leave him open to Louis' mastery counterpunching.
Foreman won't be able to bully his way with Louis and if he is not cautious then he could end floored instead.

Please please please don’t mention Carnera and Foreman in the same sentence/post ever again. Or forever stay away from your keyboard.

Lyle was bigger, hit harder and had a better chin than Louis.

Young was a slick mover and fast on his feet.

Wrong. Louis is slow and flat footed, fat bums like Galento managed to land on him.

Foreman has one of the best chins in HW history.

Not really, cause Louis will never get that close to land.

Foreman will more than be able to bully his way. He's way stronger and has a reach edge, and Louis ain't got fast enough feet or slickness to not get manhandled.

Foreman is a better slugger than Max Baer and Rocky Marciano.
    Foreman wins by knockout.

Louis was beyond washed when he fought Rocky, Baer was obliterated in 4.
Foreman does not stick around for long once Louis starts landing combinations, and given Foreman's lack of substantial speed and defense that's going to be rather soon. At longer range, Louis still has the advantage given his superior jab, timing and hand speed.

Lyle scored less knockouts in his career and has a lower KO percentage than Louis. Lyle also got knocked out twice as many times as Louis did by 1980, when Lyle had only been fighting 9 years, in contrast to Louis who got knocked out twice in a 17 year career, the second knockout happening when Louis was 37.

Louis was not slow nor flat footed. We have hours of footage disproving that. The Max Baer fight being one of the many examples.
Galento was not a bum. He was fat. If that makes someone a bum, then Foreman was one too in his second career.

Blocking Louis's combinations with your chin is the best way to be carried out on a stretcher. Great chin is something that complements defense but it doesn't compensate for a lack of it.
Louis has the advantage at both close and long ranges duo to his jab and faster hands. Superior skill and timing on top of those.

Foreman cannot bully his way into someone who will punish every window Foreman will inevitably leave open with his wide looping punches. Louis has the faster hands and has enough power to make Foreman back off, and once Foreman shows respect and backs off he is going to be broken down with jabs. Once he is beaten down enough Louis takes him out.

Definitely don't agree with that prediction, nor a lot of others from your link, Seamus.

Those predictions were made by someone with a very soft spot for Joe (or maybe a very hard spot ?).

In terms of greatness, I rank Loius as 2 all-time and Marciano at 5.

But neither of those rankings transfer to head-to-head rankings.

I can think of four or five fighters I would pick over Louis, and maybe ten over Rocky.

George lacks some of Louis' attributes in skill...hardly surprising as Louis might have been overall, the most skilled HW in history.

But George had very dangerous power and had a granite chin.

I'll agree that if the fight goes the distance, Joe is probably ahead at the final bell, but I don't think it goes that far.

Foreman by stoppage between rds 3 and 6.

Others I would favour over Louis ?

    Ali, Lewis, Tyson, Liston .

And maybe, Frazier, Usyk, both Klitschko's.

Yeah it was about Louis' performance against such a size obstacle and in the clip you can see he had no issues, of course Foreman is way more skilled

Another thing I consider is that Ali was able to put a gassed Foreman down with a pretty good little flurry, but Louis was actually known for combinations and arguably had a way deadlier right than Ali

I also think Louis had more dog in him, and of course the stamina advantage, I might also give him an edge in ring IQ, the first few times Foreman lands and hurts him he's going to figure it out

Foreman as evidenced in the rumble and Young fight, seemed rather incapable of making adjustments, and simply brawling isn't going to cut it with Louis

Prime George Foreman against the guy that got pummelled senseless by a fading guy that would have made the original cruiserweight limit with a good dump? The guy that got dumped in the first round fighting for the championship by a guy that had more losses and draws than wins? The guy staggered and dropped by a caveman skilled rumper more suited to playing fat man in a circus? The guy who was "befuddled", outfought and staggered by a little guy who was under the light heavyweight limit?...against George Foreman?..... Really?....."HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" I thought this was the "Looney" Bin...

Joe Louis was a bit too small and light for Foreman. I know Louis handled Buddy Baer quite easily, but Foreman was just too much.
