It's not outrageous at all. He was one of the worst hwt champions. Bottom three. he has no chance in a bout with Joe Louis.....none.

Who are the other two? Willard, Carnera, Braddock, L Spinks, M Spinks, Douglas, Moorer, Briggs, Rahman? I don't see why any of them would rank that much higher than Johansson.

Louis was outstanding and clearly better than Ingo, no one is disputing this. But he was an elite fighter and his sickening power would make him a threat to anyone. If you have that kind of power you always have a chance, although against the great Louis that chance would be very small.

So small there is no need to debate.

We are discussing boxing, not trying to cure cancer, I would not consider any discussion here as necessary. But we have them anyway, because we enjoy them.

Mike Spinks one of the worst? You obviously don’t know much about boxing history. Spinks one of the greatest light heavies was a very good heavyweight first light heavyweight champ to win the heavyweight title ever. And he beat a great champion twice.
Ingo was great in first fights. Took them by surprise with his right. Joe was notoriously good but not great in first fights. Ingo knocks him down early maybe twice has Joe in some trouble. Joe manages to do in first fight what Floyd couldn’t and recovers and scores 7th round KO. They fight second time and Joe KOs him in 2 or less.

If Joe is pissed off then he gets Ingo gone by the 2nd.

You say Ingemar had a glass jaw. I question the fairness of the comment. Regardless of that, this is supposed to be 1959 Ingo. Joe has no idea that Johansson has a china chin, if indeed he has one. Ingo could spring a surprise on Joe. Remember what Schmeling was able to do to Louis with HIS right hand. What happens if Joe drops his left hand after jabbing and Ingo crashes a straight right over Joe's guard? I'm serious, it could be lights out. Ingo was dangerous when underestimated.

Louis would dip low and counter the jab of Johansson with a quick right hand after jabbing with him for a bit.
Louis finishes him off from there, goes to the body then over the top of the long left of Johannson and takes him out.
