Corbett was really ahead of his time in terms of craftsmanship and movement in the ring. But although his style could be troubling for Louis - I don't think Corbett had the firepower to keep Louis at bay for the whole fight. I do think he could lump up Louis' face and land a lot of punches though. I just don't think he would come out victorious. Louis by 14th round stoppage.
Both very awkward, both unusual styles for their times. Both could and did get in very low while making an attack at times.
This is a good call. I think Louis wins a late round TKO. If the match was 10 or 12 rounds, Corbett could win a decsion. IMO, Corbett is better than the Pastors, Farr's and Conn's of the world who gave Louis tough fights, and were not punchers either.
I think that Corbetts footwork alone could make for a long fight unless Louis got him on the ropes early.
Corbett seemed very susceptible to body shots. Unless he kept away from Louis and clinched a lot, Louis bombs him out by the middle rounds.
Both awkward and unusual. Maybe. Both came in low while attacking, at times. Maybe. But their styles look very different to me.
