Similar to the Galento fight i think, although i'm not sure if Firpo would trouble him that much. Firpo might score a knockdown but Louis gets up and massacres him with short, hard combinations.
Rather like the Dempsey one, although Louis may get him like he did Buddy Baer in the second fight. Two rounds at most.
I would see it going rather like the second Abe Simon fight. While Louis would probably take longer to put Firpo away than Dempsey did I don't think Firpo would enjoy any measure of sucess.
firpo might drop him with one of his unpredictable wild swings. but louis would get up and beat the crap out of him. by round five or six he would have set him up for the kill. and then he would execute him.
Louis may get hit harder than he ever actually was in this fight - freakishly I give Firpo a mad punchers chance.
no chance for firpo imo he was an unskilled slugger who beat a washed up willard and PUSHED dempsey thru the ropes. watch the tapes
I missed this thread 13 years ago but a good topic. While Joe Louis should be heavily favored to easily take him apart, I think Firpo was dangerous enough to fall into a similar category of punchers who Louis fought like Buddy Baer, Tony Glaento, etc
People make fun of Firpo because he was so crude, but he was a big man, extremely aggressive and his right hand was powerful to keep Willard down and drop Jack. Sometimes those aggressive guys can be awkward to fight like Bonavena. He beat Weinert and took Wills the distance in an ugly fight. Louis would take longer than Jack to chop him down. Different styles Louis wouldn’t maul Firpo on the inside. So their clinches wouldn’t be so harmful to him. Joe would tag him from outside with the jab and the right hand. Before Firpo’s rush would lead to clinch. Rinse and repeat until Firpo starts to slow from it, then Joe would unleash the arsenal and get him out of there around the 6th imo
