Which fighters under 221lbs thoughout history could have won more rounds v Louis than Baer did in this bout? This content is protected
Joe Humphreys gives a quick reveal as to the mindset of late 19th/early 20th century prejudice....”although colored”. Then you hear a newer generations comment to walk it back and provide at least a glimpse of how things had improved by the mid 30’s.
Good footage. But not at correct playback rate (Sporadic? Not sure.). Baer looks pretty absent, whatever might have happened to him mentally (or physically before the bout). He looks extremely stationary. A ton of fighters under 221 would give Louis a better run.
ATG performance by Louis, he looks as good as ever in that fight. Maxie threw very few rights in this fight and didn't move well at all. That gives me thoughts that injured hands story is not just excuse, Baer never looked as bad as in Louis and Braddock fights. Even in Nova losses, he was much more agressive and he kept trying. I don't believe that he would beat Louis anyway, but this is not Baer we've seen from different fights.
Steve Holdsworth, doing his usual crap job of commentating.Saying Baer won the title from Schmeling and getting Louis and Baer mixed up at one point.Great to see it in color though! Interesting how quick Louis is on his feet here too!
Joe Frazier beats Louis So does Ali Both under 221lbs. Louis looked absolutely brilliant in this fight. But Max was virtually a punching bag without his right hand.
