The evidence your are using is flimsy.

The selection of opponents that you used to make your case for Tyson excluded some fighters and it was clearly biased towards Louis.

Im not getting sensitive about anything really. I just figured your explanation of
would indicate you felt the headbutt in some way affected the outcome of the fight.
Im not really accusing anyone of being anti Tyson (except M2Sense of course :) ),just adding what I remember from some of his fights.

Well...you're certainly free to make your list for Tyson, right? In fact, feel free to make your Tyson list and post it alongside my Louis list to compare. I'll be looking forward to it! :)

And here's a look at their complete career records, with no selecting by me at all:

    Joe Louis: 66 wins (52 knockouts) - 3 losses (2 knocked out by) - 0 draws.

    Mike Tyson: 50 wins (44 knockouts) - 6 losses (5 knocked out by) - 0 draws.

Maybe. More than hitting them while they evaded the jab, Louis would clobber his opponents as they were lured in, doubling the impact. If Tyson is caught open rushing in, he might very well be bamboozled.

By the same token, Tyson's onrushing attack might very well send Louis staggering. If would depend on which attack is more accurate, who is open for it...and who takes the better punch.

See above for why I think taking a punch is important.

This is what I envision in the early seconds: Louis backs up, on the track; Tyson comes in with a couple of fast jabs; Louis sets for a right-hand counter while Tyson throws a left hook right off the jab. Based on the film, I think Tyson ducks the right and the left clobbers Louis. Why? As a short swarmer, Tyson practiced diffusing rights as he came in a million times, and did it very well. Louis would not be accustomed to Tyson's follow-up speed off the jab and did not employ evasive head movements.

Louis was knocked down. He wasn't visiting the canvas for the fun of it. When you are knocked down, it simply means a punch either hurt you or rattled you -shook you, threw you off, bamboozled you- enough to place you on the floor. If your opponent is mediocre, you can get up and survive well enough; if he is a great finisher, you could lose right then and there, before your body and/or brain have time to recover.

This makes me believe that you are not that familiar with Louis' fights. Because if there's one fighter out there, who got knocked down, but was able to take control of the fight the instant after, it was Louis.

Wow Tyson is killing in this poll!!

I am on the fence here, I picked Louis initially because I know he can take Mike out, there is not a heavyweight who ever lived that Louis wouldn't have a chance to knock out, that coupled with his lightning combos and great power all the way through a fight up to and including rounds 13-15, he could get you at anytime you were never safe..

I think most who picked Tyson see him ending it early, that is the only way I see Tyson winning this one, hes not winning this fight if Louis is able to survive the early rounds because that would mean that he could handle Mikes power.

I see Joe making it through a tough first 3 rounds and then turning the tide on Mike and scoring a KO in around the 8th round!!

    Louis KO8!!

I assume we're talking each in their best decade, so thirties and eighties respectively?

Each was an offensive vis major. However, lesser men than Joe saw their way through the tunnel and to the light against Mike. Of course, the inverse can also be said to be true (Jack Kranz, for instance, went 8 with a young Bomber in 34 and a few years later was being knocked out left and right...usually in 1-3 rounds).

So, we'll assume - barring anybody walking into a perfect button-pusher - that we're in for a full 12 or 15 as the case may be depending on who has home-era advantage.

Louis could certainly make Tyson miss more than, say, Bonecrusher Smith - and without needing the same hackneyed attempts at fancy footwork - and he would be firing right back with his own bad intentions. The punching form of Louis would see him through to a clear point zenith via any reasonable triplet of judges.

I am a little surprised that so many would bet against louis on this one.

I see louis stopping (tko) tyson mid to late rounds.

Do you have three standardised replies with which you respond to all threads?

    (Insert fighter) KO1.

    (Insert fighter) by brutal KO.

    (Insert fighter) easily.

I'm too lazy to write long analysis about these fantasy matchups. Sorry.

There are other people here who are more capable of doing it and who also share my views.
