Nor can we predict how anyone will do when they add weight. Some are really successful, some aren't.

My only argument is when a debate comes down to weight. If weight is why some one is being favoured, let the other person weight the same I say

Exactly, this idea that contenders of yesteryear are miles behind is false imo.

    What is the question here?

Could Louis beat the big contenders of today like he did back in his day? Of course he could.

If it's a question of could he beat the bigger elite fighters like Lewis, Bowe, Wlad, Vitali, AJ, Wilder, very unlikely IMO.

Is there any stats of Joes average punch output per round compared to today’s big three? Just curious

I'm not sure where the idea comes from that today's giants are demonstrably "highly skilled". It's all been about size and power amongst the heavyweights of recent years.

Lewis stands out, as a highly skilled big man; Bowe (when he could be bothered) was behind him and not a millions miles away. I think the adjectival phrase "highly skilled" is misapplied to Wlad and Vitali who, in the main, both used their physical advantages to achieve victory (albeit, not without doing some basic things quite well).

Is Joshua "highly skilled"? I don't think so. He is still developing, in my opinion, and has looked like an accident waiting to happen, until he connects, in past fights. Wilder? Where are the skills?

Fury is the only Heavyweight out there that I would consider as 'skilled', at the moment. However, if he is to separate himself from the rest, then he needs to develop a more convincing offense to go with his defense. Maybe then we can start calling him highly skilled?

Wlad is the only fighter where I will consider the "too big" argument to be valid.

He spent his whole career perfecting the jab and grab and against a lighter opponent it is more or less unbeatable.

    Read the opening post.

And please refrain from putting Wilder in the same bracket as Lewis.

What? The same Lewis that was flattened twice by mediocre opposition?

Wilder would be a very dangerous opponent for Louis.

Why is one big puncher with KO power any more dangerous than another big puncher with KO power?

    Who said anything about that?

Wilder is IMO one of if not the hardest hitting HW I've seen, that together with Louis' shaky chin equals big danger for Louis.

I did. It's called a question: Why is one big puncher with KO power any more dangerous than another big puncher with KO power?

Any big-punching heavyweights, with KO power, are a danger to their opponents, or do you disagree with this?

Yep but the point is Wilder is a world champion. Does that not count for something?

No one said Louis would be able to just walk through aj or wilder's shots or that louis had a granite chin, he obviously didnt. Im glad you're admitting that.

What Louis had was a decent/shakey chin but great recovery and the ability to survive, make adjustments, and find a way to win. Louis is not going to just stand there after tasting those guys power, he will becone wary. Out of all heavyweights, few are on Louis' level in terms if sticking to a game plan from round 1 till the final bell, and no one ever survived once had had his man hurt. Yes aj and wilder might catch him with something big and drop him, but it wouldn't be a walk in the park to finish him off. Theyd better capitalize fast because joe is equally capable of turning the tables on them (especially wilder who is sloppy and easy to time and counter).

Which ones? Not Simon for sure. Maybe Buddy Bear could make a #9 or #10 but he would not stay for long. Buddy wasn't very good, he was only big.
