The point was not Chuvalos chin ( he was also very easy to hit) Tex Cobb had a solid chin but no defence. The point here is that Ali got hit a lot. In fact go back to Ali's last fight before retirement against Foley or to his comeback best against Frazier and put Joe Louis in there. I think Ali got hit often by Chuvalo,Foley,Chuvalo and I think getting hit by Joe Louis ( power, speed of combo and counter punching ability) would be a horse of a different color.

I was just rewatching Ali-Foley and I have to say something concerning Ali. He was always be one of those fighters who would be tough to fight because of his size, his reach, his speed, his chin, his jab, his condition and his heart. Hw was effective and difficult in the manner of a Whitaker or a Mayweather. His personality was more exciting than his initial style and often the drama of the opponent match up was key to the drama of a bout.

When you really watch Ali fights you see he had a annoying habit of arm punching and even slapping with his right hand. I don't know who wins if Ali fought Louis but I think if Louis prepared right he would do a number on Ali. Ali was not a huge puncher. Joe would have to show he could cut off the ring rather than plod after Ali. If he could do that he would do a number on him.
