Both prime. Can Louis be the one to stop a prime Mercer or does Mercer cause an upset and stop Louis

No Louis won´t. Like Lewis didn´t either, when Mercer came to fight.

Hard to tell. Louis didn´t fight any iron chinned army sergeants with solid power. What fighter Louis beat was most similar to Mercer?

Well Galento had a solid chin. Louis was the first to ever floor him

You may check what Walcott said about Louis, Rocky, power and sharpness of punches.

Yeah he said that Louis hits harder in combinations but Marciano has bigger one punch power.

Louis might stop him, it's not out of the question. He was a stalker with pinpoint precision and huge power. He wouldn't have to look hard to find Mercer.

I think Mercer would see the end. He might even look good in spots. But he wouldn't win, I don't think.

    Louis tko.

Body work. Like lots of the iron chin guys, Mercer did not like it to the breadbasket. He takes a punch a lot better upstairs than he does downstairs. Blackburn would have his guy landing body shots and Ray does not take them for the course of the fight. Joe was no headhunter in there & Mercer can always go the distance against the headhunters.

With Louis you know will always have a good heart, energy level, and effort.

With Mercer you never know about the above as they varied often from fight to fight.

Mercer actually has a very good jab, to complement an iron chin and good power. A focused Ray Mercer is a tough night for just about anyone. I'll pick Louis on points, out working and hustling Mercer is a tough fight for both of them, and would not discount an upset.

Louis wins. Hard to say if he'd stop Mercer, though. We never saw Mercer over 15, taking relentless power shots, round-after-round. A stoppage is always possible where Joe Louis is concerned.
