    I think Layne and LaStarza they were a notch below those.


    He was whipped quite badly by Marciano, and cleanly KO'd in 5 by Floyd Patterson. At the peak of his heavyweight campaigning there was still a clear gulf between himself and the world's champions.

    this is true but archie was always compiling comparable results against common opponents of the champions. even with listons guys.
