Have you ever been in a car crash? Time slows down a second before the impact. I imagine thats what these guys are experiencing.

Reznick you ought to be knighted

I'd ultimately bet on Liston. Joe would have to knock him out early if he's to win this one. It'd be imperative. Not saying Louis couldn't do it, but it'd have to be early.

Probably my favorite ATG head to head matchup. Hmmm...Louis KO14 Liston.

    Thanks Pachilles :)

I always personally thought that Liston would give Louis his toughest match next to maybe only Ali. He can box, brawl, and had great power. It would be the ultimate match-up, and potentially one of the greatest fantasy fights ever. I go with Louis on a counter KO after a Liston jab in the late rounds.

    It would?

What happens after a certain point that swings it in Sonny's favor? When is that point?

listons powerful arsenal would be too much for louis to handle liston would keep that hard jab in joes face and then when he has joe against the ropes liston would unleash a barrage of punches to the body and head that would lead to joe to crumble and turtle out for the count:yep:think

  8. Louis was a great great fighter, but liston had the reach of valuev, and monster jab, he could fight and he could hit like an animal. The key factor is... Could lous take the shots from liston early? If he can, probably he would win, but i am not sure. I did pick, liston by ko early.
(and max baer is nothing like liston, sonny was much better fighter, probably harder puncher with both hands and more skilled)

I have always picked Louis in this match, primarily based on his better speed. That would ultimately alow him to neutralize Liston, whether it turned into a slugfest or a chess match (either plausible).

When McGrain once invited me to present a counterargument to my opinion, I said that Liston was much better able to respnd to unexpected events and switch strategy mid fight. If I am wrong in my pick then that is probably why.

Liston´t jab was great but Louis´ was too, poerhaps even better. Liston has a reach advantage but Louis was faster. I think Louis would get of his jab first and would be able to counter Liston´s jab with his own right.

Louis is an extraordinary fighter, but his jab gets grossly over-egged. I think it was lora who said that if his jab actually did what people said it did, as opposed to the truth of the matter, then it would be better than Sonny's.

It's a very good jab, no better than that.

I have to think it a little better than verry good, when I watch it smash Primo Carnera.

I don't think you need an extraordinary jab to land it on Carnera with good body, but if you don't like very good i'll retract it. The overall point i'm making is it's not as good as people make it out to be. Folks get overexcited about the Louis jab, based on notions other than film.
