It's like we're in different worlds on a lot of these fights and trying to bridge the gap is taking too much effort. So I think I'm going to bow out of these discussions. Carry on!!

Was head movement outlawed in the 30's?

A boring fight, a lesson for some to learn from you shouldn’t skip over any fights of any fighter worth as much salt as Joe at his best their is something to see in all film. Rigo is as boring as drying paint yet a bible in sweet science even in his worst efforts Joe Louis is a treasure trove of knowledge.

There’s a good AJ Liebling story in one of his anthologies (I think it’s the Sweet Science but don’t have it handy to check) where he spends some time with Farr.

I remember him relating that children would approach the retired Farr and say ‘Did you really fight Joe Louie?’

And Farr would reply: ‘Well if I didn’t, I don’t know who put these ruddy loomps on my head’ and laugh.

Sounds like a great guy. He was a made man back home after fighting Louis.

Don't do that. I still value your opinion. You're fun to talk to.

I really think this was one of Louis's best and underrated performances, what happens if Louis is facing a boxer, that will not crumble under his power. Louis out tactic the tactician, Farr was a tough fighter.

This fight how good Joe Louis could jab in this fight in particular. Almost every jab snaps into Farr's face.

Louis injured a knuckle on his right hand in this fight.

    Like Benvenuti-Griffith in 1968?

Probably the best 200 pounder Louis beat, worth a watch imo. Really shows how great Louis is at neutralizing a great jabber in Farr.

Yeah I heard that and it looked like he couldn't throw his right hand as effectively but his jab was what won Louis this.
