Joe Louis vs Tyson Fury

You can only point to a single knock down in a fight he otherwise dominated. How many knockdowns or moments of Louis being outboxed can we find? Absolutely loads. Yet you only have one for. Also he clearly outboxed Wlad, that one wasn't close. Both Wlad and Wilder are more dangerous heavyweights than anyone Louis beat

BTW that 210lb 6'3 Cruserweight Cunningham is a damnsight bigger than Schmelling, Conn and Cruserweight Louis himself.

 

Wilder is not more dangerous than Louis some of opponents.

 

What has that got to do with ANYTHING?

 

Some people are raising the question of whether Fury would have done as well or better against some of Louis's opponents.

I am pointing out the flaws of that logic.

 

Do you know why that is?

Louis fought thirty one opponents who were currently ranked in the top ten.

Fury to date has only fought three.

Louis had problems with his opponents, because he regularly fought the guys who were expected to give him a good fight!

 

He doesn't need to circle for 12 rounds. He batters Louis for a few rounds, than he KOs him.

 

I am. Louis is smaller, weaker and doesn't move as good.

 

Fury never did that to anyone, let alone someone as good as Louis.

 

Fury's movement certainly wouldn't look as good against quicker opponents.

 

He would have done had he faced a small cruiserweight like Louis.

 

So if there are people who think, that Fury would have done as well or better against some of Louis' opponents, we can conclude this is based on flawed logic - because Fury once punched himself in the face??

 

He didn't do that against Cunningham and it wasn't Cunningham who laid on the canvas.

 

The flawed logic, is that people are taking the best version of Fury, and matching him against opponents who Louis had to fight under sub optimal circumstances.

That is then being used to argue that Fury would do well against the best version of Louis.

 

We are talking about prime vs prime here. He was not in his prime vs Cunningham.
Plus Cunningham still weighed 210 pounds
Louis was only 199 against Schmelling in the rematch

 

Louis was 207 lbs against Buddy Baer.
