I mean what do you expect Pete? I was born and have lived in Massachusetts my whole life, just 20 minutes away from Gillete Stadiun...It is not out of the ordinary I would be a patriots fan. I love the NFL, In fact I am a football fanatic and I am a huge patriots fan. Its time for me to bring out the football Fever.

ps I just hope your a real giants fan from New York and not some Bandwagon. Btw, I do not see why the giants would dislike the patriots. I in fact respect the giants for the way they outplayed us in the superbowl and prevented us from the perfect season. If you dont respect the patriots or tom brady, then its not my problem. As a Giants fan though, i certainly would not be happy the way you finished last season blowing the # 1 seed in the first round of the playoffs last year. You guys really miss Plaxico.

While it is possible to imagine Jack Sharkey loosing to sombody like Johnson, or Gomez on an off night (no way in hell he looses to Danny Williams while he still has two hands) he would be heavily favoured over any of them and was clearly a much better all round fighter than any of them.

If Jack Sharkey was sombody on Vitally Klitscko's record then the Klitscko proponents on this site would build him up, just like they have to build up everybody he beat to try and make his resume look better than average for a beltholder post Lewis.

Danny Williams was never a world class fighter he was British level at best.

Sanders and Johnson were world class but only verry breifly and marginaly.

It is just as well that Vitally Klitschko came back to fight Klitschko and Gomez because quite frankly they are the only genuinely top level fighters he ever beat.

Primo Carnera beat better fighters than Vitally Klitscko and has far more depth to his record yet people like you are trying to make Klitscko into some superheavyweight monster who is going to beat sombody like Joe Louis.

Well, Gomez at 230 "Soft" pounds was still savy and a capable fighter against Klit last Spring in Germany..... Gomez is NOT a bum or pug...... Yes, he lost to Klit...... They all do...... BUT! In a time machine, I think a southpaw like Gomez at 200 to 212 pounds, matches up pretty good against guys like "Schmeling, Sharkey, Carnera, Baer & Braddock." What is odd is, while I think Max Baer was a poorly skilled fighter, he was very big and powerful for his era...... Outta the lot listed above, I think Baer has the best chance to beat Gomez....... Gomez might give in to Baer's power and strength.?.?

    MR.BILL

    P.S.

Gomez is a former 200 pound Cruiserweight champion with more defenses on his resume than anything "Schmeling, Sharkey, Carnera, Baer or Braddock" ever managed......

Funny how Mr. Bill wants to match up Sanders, johnson, Gomez, Peter all "In Shape at there peaks" vs Sharkey...when Vitali himself beat up on out of shape versions. Kirk johnson looked like a harpooned whale at 260lb, Corrie Sanders was 39 years old coming off a 1 year layoff and showed up overweight, Peter looked like he hadnt trained a day for the fight, and gomez showed up 15lb overweight and looked every much of his 36 years of age.

Juan Carlos Gomez would get schooled by Schmeling and Sharkey, and it would not be close.

What? Sharkey has about 10x the resume VK has. Sharkey has beaten 4 hall of famers Tommy Loughran, George Godfrey, Harry Wills, and Max Schmeling. How many as VK beaten? If you harp on Size, Both Godfrey and Wills were both as big as most modern heavyweights.

2ndly all you need to do is watch film of Sharkey in the late 1920s...he was an outstanding ring technician, his punches were straight, sharp, and very fast. His footwork was fast, his jab exceptional, overall his skills were far above anything VK victims have shown me on film.

I'm not a bandwagon Giants fan. Been a Giants fan my whole life. My whole family is. Don't live in NY anymore but that doesn't change ****. My hate for the Patriots isn't that high compared to the division teams we play, however, they're easy to hate when they were always winning. Tom Brady? Ugh, can't stand him. I was fist pumping when he got injured last year in the pre-season. Football fervor is coming. You see the Giants game last night? What a finish.

I can't blame you for being a Pats fan. You're a Massachusetts kid after all. Last year wasn't a great finish. But really, we got too dependent on the run-game and it was something I unfortunately could foresee. We hugely missed Plax then. This year I have reservations about our young WR. Our offense line and running game is still a beast even without Ward. Thunder and Lightning are back and a perfect contrast in a 1-2. This could very still shape up as a hell of a season. Let's go GMEN! I was at the game in Tampa (I live around here now) during our superbowl run. I hate the Bucs and it was one of the sweetest things I got to witness. We play them again this season and I might go. The only thing that sucks is how they picked up Ward... oh well they still blow.

Max Schmeling beat a young Joe Louis, among others.

Jack Sharkey, during his good streak in the late 20s, knocked Harry Wills out of the top contender spot, almost beat recently dethroned Dempsey, and beat several of the leading contenders.

Surely someone wouldn't suggest Juan Carlos Gomez should be favoured to beat them peak for peak, or that his "cruiserweight reign" was better than what they did at heavyweight.

Danny Williams would be lucky to get in my list of top 10 BRITISH heavyweights of the last 30 years, and us Brits haven't had more than two or three who could even be called world class in that time. Williams was nowhere near it.

I find it incredible that some people in America think Danny Williams was a world class fighter.

Anybody on the British forums knows that he was British level at his best and frankly an indicator of how parlous the British scene was.

No offense but why would you cheer for any NFL player to get injured? you think I cheered when Big Mouth Osi Umenyori got a season ending injury? Especially why would you cheer for the NFL MVP, the Ultimate Leader, a 6th round pick who had to work hard to come up the hard way to get a potential life threatening injury? Tom Brady's injury last year hurt the NFL. when the NFL MVP goes down, its going to cost the NFL>

Tom Brady is a top 2 Quarterback in the Game, and when it is all said and done...He and Peyton Manning will both go down as top 5 quarterbacks of all time. Eli Manning, hes solid, but the very fact he is the highest paid player in the league right now when he is not even a top 4 player at his position shows how much you guys reached for him.

Yes I expect the Giants to take the EAST this year and be a NFC favorite. The patriots got alot younger faster and better on the defensive side of the ball...and with tom brady returning and new addition of Galloway our offense will be as potent as ever.

I really don't think Danny Williams is that bad......... Williams has a clue, and he was tuff...... Williams' problem was / is diet and training........ He has heart and soul...... Had Williams had a better team and trainer, he'd have done even better than he did.......

Watch some of his domestic fights and you will see that he was not world class. Watch the second Skelton fight for example.

He just got to Mikle Tyson while he was an empty shell and did something that Kevin McBride would later repeat.
