Tall and very busy for such as big man. He throws a lot of punches from every conceivable angle too. He has sustained power in power hands, although not the one punch power of Louis, Lewis or even his brother Wlad. His unorthodox style gives his opponents fits & he's much harder to hit than it appears, at least that's what his opponents say. Louis easily has the quicker hands & combinations but the chin edge goes to VK by a long shot.
Well what exactly were Primo Carnera's strengths that alowed him to become a world champion? He was basicaly big and a verry good technician. He wasnt particularly powerfull or durable for a fighter of his size although he had excelent recuperative powers. In terms of keeping a fight at long range where he had the advantage he was actualy verry good at it. The footage dosnt lie. Max Baer did beat him up, but have you ever watched the entire fight or tried to score the fight up to the point of the knockout? Baer found a way to counter Carnera with his right hand and was prepared to walk through whatever punishment he had to to do so.
atsch...Are you talking about Vitali or Wlad? Vitali was a kickboxer before boxing professionally and is extraordinarily athletic for his size.
yeah and being a kickboxer is meant to illustrate that he had great athleticism???!!! Kickboxers are renowned for being pretty ungainly ??? Everytime i watch K1 or anything like that I think these guys look really crappy compared to actual world class boxers - non of them seem to be able to punch much either - maybe why they got into something where they could use kicks aswell?
Lets look at it this way. Louis is a finished work and his resume is prety darn conclusive. At least we have a strong base for being delusional from.
While I agree with this post, Lewis and V. Klit are two completely different fighters with completely different styles. Don't get me wrong, I rate Lewis much higher overall p4p than either Klit but Vitali would present an entirely different set of physical and stylistic challenges for Joe Louis to overcome...given Joe Louis' particular skill set and era-specific fighting style.
