Joe Louis vs. Vitali Klitschko

This injury whilst winning **** is massively overstated.

He won 5 rounds against Byrd on my card before quitting. I'd have expected Byrd to sweep the remaining rounds had Vitali continued.

Against Lewis he had a slender 2 point lead. He also had half of his face removed by Lewis and his punches.

Winning handily involves a lead of more than 2 points. Both injuries relate directly to the opposition. He threw far too many shots that missed Byrd by a mile, no wonder his shoulder went. He didn't get injured by Lewis he got beaten up and stopped.

The main point is he isn't proven above a certain level so picking him over arguably the best HW in history is far too much of a leap for me.

 

An avenged loss doesn't erase the loss! Schmeling whipped Louis' ass the first time. Vitali is almost as old as Jesus and still hasn't come close to losing since the loss to Lewis.

 

Lewis won the last 2 rounds.
The initial advantage Vitali had on the outside was gone.

Vitali just lacked the finishing touch.

so what if Byrd or Lewis won rounds off an injured guy. If I run against Usain Bolt and he injures himself and goes down does it means that I am faster then him? At least Lewis inflicted the injury on Vitaly so it's a legit win(even though not convincing, especially because he retired right away), but Byrd was just lucky.

A lot of Byrd his opponents have complained about their shoulders.

If you miss your hooks it's going to hurt your shoulder, Byrd won a close fight.

Though Louis could have been like Tyson in that regard.

 

Who said it erased it? It's rightfully known as one of the best victories in hw history.

Vitali retired for 4 years and has not faced a top 3 opponent since a fat overweight Peter. No wonder he hasn't lost when he's fighting guys like Briggs, Gomez, Charr and Chisora.
