Both would have a nice chance.

No I don't think Wlad would be able to land right hands at will, but eventually he'd find the mark behind one of the best jabs in the history of the division. Wlad's jab is that good. That combined with the speed, power & accuracy with a little of the tricky left hook thrown in would be too much for Louis.

Do you think that a pre Brewster Wlad could've beat a post Schemeling Louis? I don't. Maybe a Post Brewster Wlad might've beaten a pre Shemeling Louis. I do thiunk Louis was devastating against big guys. Very effective.

That's a bit confusing! I hear what you're saying though. Obviously Louis would KO the Wlad that fought Sanders or Brewster, but that's not Wlad's prime. I believe WK is coming into his prime right now.

Marciano did not KO a prime Louis, Schmeling did. Max noticed a major flaw in Joe's defense & he exploited it for the resulting KO, which was a right hand. Max wouldn't stand a serious chance against Klitschko.

Shemeling Ko'd Louis before he hit his prime. Much like Brewster KO'd Wlad before he hit his prime.
I peg Louis prime from 1937-1948. The first Shemeling fight happened in 1936.

    Agreed.

Like I said, I'm a big Louis fan but Joe's strengths play into Wlad's strengths and Louis would need to get inside to land those combos & short power shots which he was famous for. It's easier for Wlad since he can just hang on the outside catching Joe trying to get inside while peppering him with jabs & the occasional right cross to discourage him from trying.

Is that the same 6'6" man who couldn't make a dent in Ross Puritty? The 6'6" man who played huggy bear with Chris Byrd? Anybody who thinks Joe Louis couldn't handle that knows nothing about the history of boxing. The videos are available, go look at them.

People always assume that Klitschko will do this or Klitschko will do that. Why the **** isn't he doing it already? :-(

Wlad fought Sam Peter in his prime in september of 05, While Im a big fan of Peter, he lacks hand speed and throws wild punches at times, especially in this fight. Wlad was caught plenty of times in this fight, leading to over 90 clinches and 3 knockdowns. If Peter can land his shots on a prime Wlad, whos to say a ATG boxer like Louis cant? Louis also throws shorter, more compact punches, which usually hits its target alot faster.

My money is on Louis, Wlads chin would be more exposed that night than Paris Hiltons *****, theres no way in hell Wlad avoids Louis perfect punches with his leaky defense.

91 votes for Wlad doesnt surprise me at all, half of them are Wlad nut huggers and the other half just have'nt seen enough of Louis to vote in favor of a Wlad knockout. Put this thread in the classic forum and the voting would go strongly in favor of Louis', too many people think size is everything, and thats why you see so many voting in favor of Waldo over Louis'.

    Great write up! Totally agree!!!!!!!!!!

Boxers today are far better than fighters in the past and they will continue to get better.

Yeah right, thats why the Heavyweight divsion is filled with fat guys with limmited skills. The fighters of yester year, were far more skilled and better condition athletes, I cant tell you how many Heavyweight champs I seen gas out during fights before the 8th round. I agree fighters are bigger and stronger now with the addition of HGH and other drugs being used by the best fighters today, but as far as skills and condition go, I will take the old time fighters anyday.
