I think you missed the point made by pudding? Wlad shut todays fighters down with a jab and a right hand while creating his own range. Louis wouldn't allow him to keep that range. Nuff said!
It is true. Wladimir Klitschko looks like he belongs with the Gods on Mount Olympus, but he doesn't fight like it. All Corrie Sanders did to neutralize the jab was move sideways. Anything Sanders could do Joe Louis could do better.

Totally agree. Also, great atheletes - no matter what era - are still great atheletes no matter who you slice it. Wilt Chamberlin could still play in the NBA and would still dominate. Maybe he doesn't score 100 points in a game, but he'd certainly be among the leading scorers, if not THE leading scorer. Michael Jordan, Magic, Dr. J, Bird, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russel, Jerry West - all could play still because they were incredible atheletes - even in the modern NBA where there are literally millions of players trying to get a shot in the NBA in the first place. Players in other sports where strength has a factor have gotten so huge primarily because of supplements and probably roids, too. Now, also - of course - there is more knowledge of specific training methods to increase muscle mass in atheletes. It's not like we suddenly started engineering super-human people and increased the rate of evolution. As far as fighters go - there is a much less percentage of atheletes that go to boxing now as compared to back in the days before million dollar basketball contracts for kids right out of college or even high school. Back in the day it was boxing that was a way off the streets. Now there simply isn't very many gyms in any given neighborhood. There's a ton of b-ball courts, though. Those who rose to the top of the boxing ranks back in the day were great fighters and they did so because of their skill as fighters, not relying on something like big muscles or more mass. They were quick and in better shape, throwing more punches and doing so for 15rounds. All these HW championships nowadays feature at least one of them being totally gassed out mid-fight after throwing 20-30 punches a round. It's pathetic. They don't move around much, either.
Wlad - 6' 7" 250. wingspan like an eagle. Louis - 6' 1" 185 short arms. he'll eat jabs all night. wlad ko 6 or 7
Louis is listed by boxrec as 6' 2" the same height as Brewster. 1" less wing span as Brewster and he weighed 181-218 during his career. He never fought at less than 197 when he fought for the Heavyweight championship title.
Brewster is 6'1, and I even seen him as low as 6 foot in a half. Lamon Brewster is not 6'2, and theres now way in hell Sultans 6'2, more like 6'0.
So Joe is taller than Brewster. Short little Brewster split two fights with Wlad.:yep I see one place that list Joe as 6' 1-1/2" and one place that lists Brewster as 6' 1". I thought I remember Brewster as being 6' when he fought Wlad.
Your right, I think Brewster was either listed at 6 foot and a half for that fight or 6 foot even, Height is overrated when in comes to boxing, many people say Tyson was the best fighter in his prime, he is listed at 5'11 and a half but he is really 5'10 and a half, so what does that tell you
I agree, Louis is far too skilled to lose to a fighter like Wlad, Height doesnt matter as much as some people think. I would love to see Wlad get hit with that 6 inch punch on the inside, I have a feeling glass will shatter.:yep
